I has misspelling names for the sake of being ‘different’.
And Culture, no matter how it’s spelled, is horrible as a person’s name.

It rhymes with vulture which is why I hate it.

I wouldn’t call it a trend, and hardly a new one.
Names like these seem to be on the rise because everyone talks about them, but they actually make up a very small fraction of naming culture, even celebrity naming culture. Also I don’t see Stormi as misspelled, I always interpreted it as a “namification” of the noun storm, rather than coming from stormy.

I definitely think it will be a trend among celebrities… I will admit, I find Stormi very cool, though I was shocked with the choice of Kulture.

I’m not sure if there’s truth to this rumor, but Cardi B has gang associations with the Bloods, and it’s common for members of the Bloods to avoid spelling out words that start with their rival gang (the Crips) letter “c”. Ex. spelling kulture with a “k” instead of a “c”.

Of course it hardly makes sense with her being Cardi vs. Kardi, but her name comes from reversing Bacardi (her nickname, because her sister’s name is Hennessy).

This is definitely a trend among celebrities but I don’t think it’s a new trend. E.g. [name_m]David[/name_m] Duchovny has a son named [name_m]Kyd[/name_m] and [name_f]Toni[/name_f] [name_m]Braxton[/name_m] has a [name_m]Diezel[/name_m]. [name_f]Diana[/name_f] [name_m]Ross[/name_m] may have been the original pioneer of this, if her daughter’s name Chudney was an intentional misspelling of “chutney”.
