[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone- i used this website a few years back with help in naming my youngest and also asked for my sister’s youngest.
My oldest son is called [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] [name_f]Madsen[/name_f] [name_u]North[/name_u] and when [name_u]Kim[/name_u] & [name_m]Kanye[/name_m] named their daughter [name_u]North[/name_u] it stung, but only just a little. After all [name_u]North[/name_u] is our son’s second middle name and he is the opposite gender of the famous [name_u]North[/name_u]. However… now that the Kardashian younger sister has named her baby Stormi, I’m really bothered. My sister and I are very close and so are our children- her oldest daughter is called [name_f]Stormie[/name_f] and they’re going to have the [name_u]North[/name_u] & Stormi Kardashian generation in the media as they grow up. I don’t want them to have that association My sister isn’t fazed by the Kardashian news- but she isn’t a name geek like me and dosnt really believe that in a few years 1/4 of the little girls in preschool could be stormi/stormy/stormie’s!!
There’s nothing to do about it- just upsetting. She’s due with her 3rd girl late summer and I feel like I’m the one naming her lol. I’m so worked up about [name_f]Stormie[/name_f]’s name being taken -on top of that my sister has great style overall- but together her names don’t really fit at first glance. Her first daughter is called [name_f]Stormie[/name_f] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] (born on [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]’s [name_u]Day[/name_u]). This name is all pop-art comic book action and spunk to me- and it fits her perfectly. My sister’s youngest is [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]- 100% charming antiquated southern belle on a balmy summers eve… And [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is the perfect name for my brilliant, sweet & sensitive second neice! The two names used to make no sense together in my mind- but now that she’s ‘up and running’, [name_f]Stormie[/name_f] & [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] really are a great duo!
So for baby girl 3 what do “I” do?? I feel at this point she’s got to commit to the ‘S’? Right now her favorite name is [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] ([name_f]Vienna[/name_f] has no special significance). I’m trying to sway her towards [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] or [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. Thoughts on the whole [name_f]Stormie[/name_f] popularity situation and ideas for [name_f]Stormie[/name_f] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] & [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]’s baby sister??
Thank you!!!
Hmm, tough call about sticking with the S initial. On the one hand, it’s a cute way to unite them all as a sibling set and “[name_f]Stormie[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], and [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]” does have a nice ring to it. But on the other hand, three kids all having the same initials seems a bit much to me. I love both [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] and [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], and I like [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] too. Honestly though, I don’t think she’s locked into the “S” initial at all. It’s perfectly fine to have two “S” name kids and then a “V” name. Plus, the “V” in [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] echoes the “V” in [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], and [name_f]Stormie[/name_f]'s middle name starts with “V,” so there’s definitely a feeling of continuity there (especially with the “S” in [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] as the middle name).
In order of preference, I like:
[name_f]Vienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
I dont think she needs to commit to another S name if she doesnt want too. I doubt the kid is gonna feel left out if it has something different. Besides, if you worried about the Kardashian similarites…do you really want to follow the same letter trend?
Really good point about the same letters. I guess because both names start and end w the same sound they seem more matched than they are. Also I just noticed your screen name. Odd [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] thats legit how she got her name haha
I kind of doubt Kardashian fame will last another generation. I don’t think [name_f]Stormie[/name_f] will get too popular. I actually thought you were going to mention [name_f]Stormy[/name_f] [name_m]Daniels[/name_m], which I think has tainted the name for the moment. I do think [name_f]Siena[/name_f] goes well, but 3 Ss are a lot. [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] is too much of a place name for me personally.
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Summer[/name_f]
[name_f]Sedona[/name_f]
[name_f]Soleil[/name_f]
[name_u]Scout[/name_u]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Novalie[/name_f]
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]
[name_f]Valley[/name_f]
[name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_u]Haven[/name_u]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
I think since your sister has already done two S names, she should commit. Otherwise the third daughter’s name will feel out of place, especially when changing [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] to [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] is so easy.
I think [name_f]Stormie[/name_f] will rise in popularity but never get commonplace
I also agree the timing of [name_f]Stormy[/name_f] [name_m]Daniels[/name_m] in the news will probably dissuade some folks from using it
I don’t think you HAVE to do another S name. In fact that would be very Kardashian if you did!
But I do think [name_f]Stormy[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] sound cute together. And I really prefer [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] to [name_f]Vienna[/name_f]!
Some other ideas:
[name_f]Stormy[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and…
[name_f]Sable[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_m]Saint[/name_m] (just kidding!)
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Seren[/name_u]
[name_f]Serena[/name_f]
[name_u]Sidney[/name_u]
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u]
[name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Summer[/name_f]
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u]
Would she like [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]. [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is gorgeous.
Personally I would avoid having three names beginning with the same letter (S in this case) as that makes it even more Karadashian. If she would like a similar beginning sound to S maybe a Z sound would feel right. [name_f]Stormie[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and…
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]. I love the combo of [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] (zan-THEE meer-AYE)
[name_f]Ziva[/name_f]
[name_f]Zenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
I don’t think she needs to stick with the S theme or the S-ie theme, but if she wants to then maybe:
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Susie[/name_f]
[name_u]Sunnie[/name_u]
[name_f]Sukie[/name_f]
[name_u]Scottie[/name_u]
[name_f]Shelbie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f]
[name_u]Stevie[/name_u]
I agree that she doesn’t need to stick with an S name. I do, however, like how [name_f]Stormie[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], and [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] sound! I think they make a very sweet set of sisters.
Another thing she could do is pick a name that has the same ending sound as [name_f]Stormie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_u]Penny[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]/[name_f]Cicely[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_f]Serenity[/name_f]/[name_u]Story[/name_u] (starts with S though)
[name_f]Araceli[/name_f]
[name_f]Posy[/name_f]/[name_f]Posey[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydie[/name_f]
[name_f]Circe[/name_f]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]
She doesnt have to do that either, though. I dont think a third sister will feel too left out, so long as her mom loves all three names!
[name_f]Vienna[/name_f] is a very pretty name, and I think it goes well.
I also like the suggestion of [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]! Maybe she could use a name that starts with S (if shed like to) but starts with Sh so the sounds aren’t exactly the same.
Good luck to your sister!!
(Also, I dont think [name_f]Stormie[/name_f]/Stormi will get too popular, so you shouldn’t worry about that!)
I really like the idea of [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]! It totally fits halfway between the punky [name_f]Stormie[/name_f] and flowery [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. Totally agree that [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] or [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] would be more suitable than [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] since they are so close, yet match her siblings.
Perhaps something similarly sweet yet punky. Some ideas:
[name_f]Sia[/name_f]
[name_m]Saxon[/name_m]
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f]
[name_u]Scout[/name_u]
[name_f]Serena[/name_f]
Siren
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_f]Sorcha[/name_f]
[name_f]Soraya[/name_f]
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f]
[name_f]Suria[/name_f]
There doesn’t seem to be any good reason to stick to S if your sister doesn’t want to. There are so many similarities and differences among names, I’m not sure why we get so fixated on the first letter. [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] fits in fine! [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] would tie in with her sister [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] because of the V. It’s all how we tell the story. And loving a name is also a great story. I say support your sister in whatever she chooses.
Thank you guys for so many detailed responses!! Feeling excited we both really loved [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], [name_f]Sable[/name_f] and her favorite suggestion is [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]. I love [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]!! She isn’t sure about [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] with [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] but middle name options are endless. I think [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is pretty cute. So many great ideas thank you all!!
