I really love [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] but I think [name_u]Story[/name_u] has a warmer ring to it. I’ve tried a nicknames, [name_u]Story[/name_u] would be Esy and [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] would be [name_f]Libby[/name_f]. I’ve tried calling them both as if I were calling them for dinner or looking for them at the grocery store. Finally, I’ve tried writing them both down as if I was signing them in at the doctor. [name_u]Story[/name_u] comes off of the pen easier than [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] does. No middle name ideas yet but sister would be [name_u]Winter[/name_u].
DH leans more toward [name_u]Story[/name_u] while I’m on the fence, leaning more toward [name_u]Liberty[/name_u]. Thoughts?
[name_u]Liberty[/name_u]! I love [name_u]Story[/name_u] as well, but mostly as a nickname for [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] however, any name that can get to the nickname [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is a big favorite for me, (plus I think [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u] happen to make a more cohesive sibset), so that’s where my vote goes.
I definitely prefer [name_u]Story[/name_u]. [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] gives me like founding father vibes, and I’m not a big fan of the nickname [name_f]Libby[/name_f].
Between the full names, I prefer [name_u]Story[/name_u]! Whimsical and warm and full of flair. I know a [name_u]Story[/name_u] (spelled differently) so I think it wears beautifully irl. I do adore [name_f]Libby[/name_f] though, so I’m a little bit torn there!
I prefer [name_u]Story[/name_u], though [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] is more common as a name where I’m from, and I do love [name_f]Libby[/name_f].
I think [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] just comes with some heavy political vibes in the US (libertarian, etc), and [name_u]Story[/name_u] is more neutral, whimsical territory.
I prefer [name_u]Liberty[/name_u]. [name_u]Story[/name_u] is pretty, though I prefer it as a nickname. [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is also the cutest nickname, while Esy … feels a bit unrelated? Agreed about the Easy pronunciation – [name_f]Essie[/name_f] definitely makes it cuter and more doable.
I definitely prefer [name_u]Story[/name_u]. [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] feels too patriotic and I just want to sing the [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] Mutual jingle when I hear it. [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is also a bit overdone to me since I’ve known quite a few (short for Elizabeth). I don’t know what I think about Esy (definitely prefer [name_f]Essie[/name_f], I thought this was a typo for “easy” at first) but [name_u]Story[/name_u] has a prettier sound and a more whimsical meaning to me.
For clarification Esy would sound like the letter S. Rhyming with her dad’s name “Eddie”. Spelling it as [name_f]Essie[/name_f] would make a lot more sense though, actually.
[name_u]Liberty[/name_u] was more so because I was a huge Degrassi fan growing up and always resonated with [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] V. and my birthday is [name_u]July[/name_u] 2nd, while DH’s birthday is in the winter.
[name_u]Story[/name_u] definitely takes the cake for me! I’ve never been able to enjoy [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] because my immediate association is colonial [name_u]America[/name_u] which isn’t a good one of course! [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is a lovely nickname though.
[name_u]Story[/name_u] pairs better with [name_u]Winter[/name_u] imo. Both have a softer feel while also being a consistent “word name” sibset. Best of luck with whichever you choose!
Personally I like [name_u]Liberty[/name_u] more, nn [name_f]Birdie[/name_f].
But it definitely sounds like you like [name_u]Story[/name_u] more, and you ultimately have to choose what you like more and can picture on your daughter.
