So, I feel like my husband and I waver every day on which way we want to go on naming this baby boy (to be born in a matter of weeks). Our style straddles traditional/popular/biblical, and classic/old-man/retro. Depending on our mood, we seem to totally swing back and forth. I honestly think we’re going to name him in the hospital… and I cannot predict which way we’re going to go.
Anyone else been in this boat? Which way did you decide to go? Which way would you recommend?
Our daughter is [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], which I feel is really the “sweet spot” in terms of traditional and classic. For our son, we’ve considered names like:
Traditional:
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]
[name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
Classic/Retro:
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] ([name_m]Walt[/name_m])
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
At any rate, I am just wondering if anyone has any advice on which direction to go. Any other “sweet spot” names that you might recommend?
Thanks!
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is a great name!
From you list I really like [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Walter[/name_m], [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] with [name_f]Nora[/name_f]…
[name_m]Ralph[/name_m]
[name_m]Frank[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Marcus[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Adam[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_m]Philip[/name_m]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]
I totally understand what you mean by traditional/classic and boardering on trend.
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is really a sweet spot in regard to those guidelines! Simple, cute, trendy, and classic at the same time! Avoiding the possibility of having 5 [name_f]Nora[/name_f]'s in her class and perhaps even honoring an ancestor somewhere down the line. From your choices I love [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]! I think it’s the best of all worlds just like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f].
Here are a couple other ones
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_u]Aiden[/name_u]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_u]Evan[/name_u]
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]
I like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] as well.
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_u]Max[/name_u] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]
Thanks for your feedback! I, too, think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] is a great choice, but my husband can’t quite fall in love with it. He’s enamored with [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m], though — he thinks it’d be great to have a little boy named [name_m]Walt[/name_m]. I do think it’s pretty adorable, too. Is [name_m]Walter[/name_m] the only option… does anyone like [name_m]Walton[/name_m]?
I also like people’s suggestions of [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_u]Francis[/name_u]. Also love [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], but sadly, our dog is named [name_u]Sam[/name_u], so that’s out.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m]
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
[name_m]Timothy[/name_m]
[name_m]Colin[/name_m]
