Strange Baby Names On Nameberry Polls

Hello Berries, I enjoy taking the time to click on what name I like best on the Nameberry polls ([name_m]How[/name_m] [name_u]Berry[/name_u] are You?). Today, I nearly fell out of my chair when the option of “Cheeseburger” or “Veggie Burger” popped up as choices for baby names (after [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] vs [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_m]Zander[/name_m] vs. [name_m]Zane[/name_m]). Is this a joke or are people actually naming their children these words? Did anyone else think it was strange? For the record, I chose Veggie Burger (I don’t like cheese very much).

I know what you mean. I think the only reason I now like the name [name_u]Howard[/name_u] is because it is so much better a name than [name_m]Craven[/name_m], Stryker, or Mstyelsiyyt.

Cheeseburger is a joke, right? If not, I vote for Falafel which at least sounds cute (nice dog name, maybe for a curly-coated terrier).

I think it’s supposed to be a joke, and if it is it’s definitely odd.

I just went through some names. These are the weird ones I got:

[name_f]Pink[/name_f] V [name_u]Blue[/name_u] – I know [name_u]Blue[/name_u] is a popular middle name, but I don’t like either of them as names
Renesme V Gracelynne – I just hate that both of these are on here
[name_u]Blue[/name_u] V [name_u]Bleu[/name_u]
Book V Movie – O_o
[name_f]Candy[/name_f] V [name_u]Taffy[/name_u] – sigh
[name_m]Night[/name_m] Alone V [name_m]Night[/name_m] on the town
[name_u]North[/name_u] V South

So they’re joke things stuck in there for some reason. I don’t know, I don’t like it.

I always thought it was an opinion thing. Not in terms of names, but in terms of colors (I like blue, not pink), food (cheeseburger), and location (I’d rather be up [name_u]North[/name_u]).

That’s what I thought as well.

I think the non-name questions are general information/opinion gathering. The non-name questions are annoying, don’t belong in the quiz, and skew the results of the questions intended as name-related questions. Example: is [name_u]North[/name_u] vs. South a location preference or a name preference? At first I thought it was a relative comparison of the words as names, until I saw “night on the town,” and then I realized that [name_u]North[/name_u] vs. South is entirely subject to interpretation. Thus, any results displayed on that page mean nothing, because there’s no way to interpret the data and know who chose [name_u]North[/name_u] as a name and who would rather live in the [name_u]North[/name_u]. Now I just choose the “skip” option on anything that isn’t clearly supposed to be a name.

I think the spirit in which they were added was lighthearted, so I think it’s cute and not a big deal.

(Book vs Movie? Is there ever a question? :))

As long as our “opinions” are NOT being used or sold for marketing purposes they’re a minor irritant. Personally, I think it’s best to stick with opinions on names only. This is called “Nameberry” after all.

I see med-free and pain-free. But that’s not names. They are just opinion thing. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you want med-free birth or pain-free birth.

Come to think of it (although I know bumping old threads is frowned upon), does the [name_u]Berry[/name_u] Taste game/poll still exist? I haven’t seen it lately…
