Sooo I came across this boys name a few months ago and I wasn’t sure about it at first but it just stuck in my mind because it sounds great with our last name! I also found a girls name recently that I love!! So I’m going to throw them out there and I just want to know what you all think?
Boy: Breaker Sloan
Girl: Theo Makenzie
And I also thought if we happen to have a boy that if he grew out of the name Breaker he could also go by Sloan!
(I realize this is Boys Name Forum but I figured I might as well put my girls name here too!)
I met a toddler named [name]Breaker[/name]. It worked on him because he was about 2, but I’m not sure about it working for an adult. The little boy was a bit wild and all over the place and he was actually trying to pull apart a toy so [name]Breaker[/name] really fit him.
I love [name]Theo[/name] more on a boy. Its just very masculine to me. I like [name]Thea[/name] for a girl because its more feminine.
I’m not a fan of [name]Breaker[/name]. I can’t see it ageing well at all. You could change [name]Breaker[/name] to [name]Breccan[/name] or [name]Breckin[/name] both are real names. I don’t like [name]Sloan[/name] either it makes me think of a slug. I like [name]Theo[/name] but only on a boy and only if it’s short for [name]Theodore[/name]. I don’t really like it as a first name either only as a middle. I really like [name]Mackenzie[/name] on a boy. Where I live [name]Mackenzie[/name] is still a boys name. I live in quiet a traditional place were the most different names are [name]Parker[/name], [name]Roscoe[/name], [name]Sterling[/name] and [name]Kit[/name] and all names are used on the correct gender. We don’t have any girls called [name]Emerson[/name] or [name]Riley[/name] only names like [name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Emma[/name]. If I were to see the name [name]Theo[/name] [name]Mackenzie[/name] on a piece of paper I would assume that it was a boys name, the thought of it being a girls name wouldn’t even cross my mind.
Not a huge fan of [name]Breaker[/name](it doesn’t pass the would-I-vote-for-this-candidate test for me), but I could see it working, especially if it sounds great with your last name! There are lots of names with that b and hard c combination, so you’ve got a lot of choices, and potential sources to get [name]Breaker[/name] as a nickname. I adore the name [name]Sloan[/name]. [name]Theo[/name] is also a great name for a boy, but I agree with sweetpeacelove… [name]Thea[/name] is just more feminine, and like cannebella, I would immediately assume it was a boy name, even more so than a name like [name]Emerson[/name] or [name]Avery[/name].
[name]Breaker[/name] sounds very made up, just not my style I guess. [name]Theo[/name] is not bad for a boy, I can’t see it on a girl. But as always, if you love the names that’s all that matters!
I think [name]Breaker[/name] is a terrible name for a child. Since when did having a name with a negative meaning become a good/cool thing? There are so many cool and handsome names for boys, that don’t have negative meanings, why would you choose one that does? [name]Just[/name] because it sounds good? You would be setting up your child for a life time (or at least a childhood) of people assuming the worst of him. Teachers would automatically expect him to be a trouble maker.
As for [name]Sloan[/name]? I like it, but prefer it on a girl.
[name]Theo[/name] [name]Makenzie[/name]? It is a good combo for a boy. Too masculine for a girl, but probably still doable.
Not a fan of [name]Breaker[/name]. Sounds made up and I think he will outgrow it. Perhaps Brecker / [name]Breck[/name] instead.
I like [name]Theo[/name] for a girl as much as a boy. You could consider [name]Feo[/name] for a more feminine feel (Could be short for [name]Feodora[/name], or not).
Hmmm… [name]Breaker[/name] [name]Sloan[/name] is okay, I think maybe I would go with [name]Sloan[/name] [name]Breaker[/name] just b/c [name]Sloan[/name] sounds like it would age better with a boy. [name]Theo[/name] is great for a boy, but I am not into girls having boy names.
[name]Breaker[/name] sounds silly. Can you imagine a doctor or a lawyer or an office manage named [name]Breaker[/name]? That, to me, is a deciding point - if you can’t picture it on a professional adult, don’t put it on a child.
And please, please don’t let [name]Theo[/name] go to the girls, I will cry. It’s such a handsome, masculine name, much too much so for a girl, even if she was a tomboy. Ugh. It’s like no name is safe nowadays. [name]Mackenzie[/name] is still a boys’ name here, or even usually just a surname, so it only adds to the masculine-ness of [name]Theo[/name]. Great name for a boy, horrible for a girl. Sorry.
[name]Breaker[/name] has a nice enough sound to it but it’s really not my style. And like a lot of new names these days I’m not sure how well it will transition into adulthood, but I suppose his generation will be full of a lot of those types of names. As for [name]Sloan[/name], I definitely prefer it on a girl, but as a middle name it’s okay.
[name]Theo[/name] I just cannot do on a girl. I don’t even like just plain old [name]Theo[/name] for a boy, but I looove [name]Theodore[/name], so me it’s definitely a boy name. A couple others mentioned [name]Thea[/name], which I think is super cute on a little girl. And [name]Makenzie[/name] is okay. Again, not my style, but it’s okay and has obviously been a girls name for some time now, so not quite as strange as a girl [name]Theo[/name] or little boy [name]Breaker[/name].
[name]Breaker[/name] would be easy for bullies to make up rhyming insults too, besides the fact that I dislike it. Does sound very made up and hard to take a person seriously when you know their name is [name]Breaker[/name]. No offense.
What about [name]Braxton[/name], [name]Paxton[/name], [name]Grayson[/name], [name]Greydon[/name], [name]Brighton[/name], Barreck, Bracen,(bray-son)??
I do not like [name]Breaker[/name] [name]Sloan[/name]. [name]Sloan[/name] would be better on a girl, but I dislike the name all in all.
[name]Theo[/name] Isn’t attractive for a girl at all, maybe as a NN.[name]Mackenzie[/name] is ok.
For a girl: [name]Thea[/name] [name]Mackenzie[/name]? [name]Cleo[/name] [name]Mackenzie[/name]? [name]Clio[/name] [name]Mackenzie[/name]? Athea [name]Mackenzie[/name]? [name]Thalia[/name] [name]Mackenzie[/name]?
I know a boy named Styler. My son is [name]Blaize[/name].
others for boy: [name]Bridger[/name], [name]Gunner[/name]/ [name]Gunnar[/name], [name]Ryder[/name]?
[name]Breaker[/name] [name]Sloan[/name] is (sorry for being harsh) a horrible name. [name]Breaker[/name] is just plain wrong, and [name]Sloan[/name] is one of my worst favorite names.
[name]Theo[/name] was a female character in one of my favorite children’s books, Ballet Shoes. Keep in mind, this book was published in 1936! I don’t think it could work on it’s own, but it’d be a cute tom-boyish nickname for [name]Theodora[/name].
[name]Breaker[/name] [name]Sloan[/name]- [name]Breaker[/name] sounds like something a toddler would say “That guy is the breaker!”. If you like [name]Breaker[/name], maybe go with [name]Gunnar[/name]? [name]Gunnar[/name] is an actual name with history. [name]Sloan[/name] is just slimy and I really don’t see it’s appeal.
[name]Theo[/name] [name]Makenzie[/name]- [name]Theo[/name] is good for a boy- when it’s short for [name]Theodore[/name]. Why not [name]Thea[/name]? [name]Makenzie[/name] on a girl is terrible and trendy. I really dislike that name. Why not [name]Madison[/name]? [name]Madison[/name] ways a boys name and went to the girls, it also has the same sort of trendy feel to it.
Boy: [name]Breaker[/name] [name]Sloan[/name] - Meh for breaker, [name]Sloane[/name] I prefer for a girl.
Girl: [name]Theo[/name] [name]Makenzie[/name] - If I saw this name I would assume it was a boy. [name]Theo[/name] is a nn for the boy name [name]Theodore[/name] (and a very common one at that!), [name]Thea[/name] is the female version. [name]Makenzie[/name] is a unisex name.
I think Brecker or [name]Becker[/name] would be better, I like the sound of the name but I can’t imagine it on an adult or old person and I would hate for the kid to get teased at school for being clumsy. Also, [name]Breaker[/name] Morant is a war criminal, his nickname was “The [name]Breaker[/name]”… bad association. It’s also the name of flavoured milk here in Australia. Here are some similar sounding names: [name]Brooks[/name], [name]Brady[/name] or [name]Brody[/name], Bracken, Brigder, [name]Bryce[/name], [name]Brock[/name], [name]Bryant[/name], etc.
I wouldn’t do [name]Theo[/name] by itself, but I would do it as a cute and unique nickname for [name]Theodora[/name], which I think is a beautiful name. Someone suggested [name]Feo[/name], but I just read on the blog that it means “ugly” in Spanish, so might keep clear of that.
As for middle names, [name]Sloan[/name] seems more a girl name to me, regardless of whether I like it or not. If you’re going to go for an unusual first name I would always back it up with a solid nickname for them to fall back on later. Maybe a family name? The same with [name]Mackenzie[/name], where I live it has become the new [name]Brayden[/name] - [name]Jayden[/name] - [name]Hayden[/name] thing. McKenzy, Maccensey, etc. [name]Every[/name] second baby has the name, boy or girl. I would go for a traditional or family name.
From an Australian perspective, [name]Breaker[/name] could work because of its association with [name]Harry[/name] “[name]Breaker[/name]” Morant, a famous Australian soldier.
I think this name could work in the same way as [name]Banjo[/name] (for [name]Andrew[/name] “[name]Banjo[/name]” [name]Patterson[/name]).
Although, you could probably only have a little [name]Breaker[/name] in Australia without the name seeming too odd.
