[name]Hi[/name] Berries.
I thought DH and I had a good list of girl’s names organised. Then suddenly, with only two weeks to go, DH has vetoed many names on our orginal list - says “they just don’t feel right” anymore (where did this come from?!).
The only thing we seem to agree on, is that the mn will honour my mum, [name]Yvonne[/name]. For the girl’s I have been concentrating on the variants of [name]Eva[/name], [name]Eve[/name] or [name]Evie[/name]. However, If we have a boy the mn will be her maiden name of Whiley. I was wondering since DH has actually agreed to the mn Whiley, could it be used on a girl as well? I know it is masculine, however, if it is balanced out with a girly first name, could it work? WDYT?
Here are the names that have somehow stayed on our list - [name]Cadence[/name] [name]Eve[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Eve[/name]/Whiley, [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Eve[/name], and [name]Piper[/name]-[name]Eve[/name]. I have recently added Ethlinn (a modernisation of [name]Ethel[/name], which is a significant family name) [name]Eva[/name]/Whiley and [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Eva[/name]/Whiley, but have yet to get to run them by DH. I want to take a list to hospital, and see which name suits bub!
Lastly, what is the best spelling of [name]Emmeline[/name]? I want the prn of [name]Emma[/name]-line (rhymes with fine). I have seen [name]Emmaline[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Emaline[/name] and [name]Emeline[/name]. Looking forward to hearing feedback and/or any suggestions. Thanks in advance for taking time to read this very long post.
I think Whiley would be a very nice MN for a girl, but since you and your husband agree on [name]Yvonne[/name], I don’t think it matters much either way.
Here are some ideas:
[name]Emmeline[/name] Whiley
[name]Piper[/name] [name]Yvonne[/name]
[name]Cadence[/name] Whiley
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Yvonne[/name]
I prefer either the [name]Emmeline[/name] or [name]Emmaline[/name] spellings and I think it depends on what looks best with the middle name.
These are all beautiful names and your daughter will have a great one no matter what you choose!
I think Whiley can work in the middle for a girl if it’s honouring, but I prefer [name]Eve[/name]/[name]Eva[/name]. [name]Ethel[/name] [name]Eve[/name] would be adorable. I don’t think [name]Ethel[/name] gets enough love. I also like [name]Emmeline[/name] (this spelling) and [name]Elodie[/name]. Some more ideas:
[name]Lilia[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Eva[/name]
[name]Willow[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Yvonne[/name]
[name]Maya[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Yvonne[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Eva[/name]
I think [name]Emmeline[/name] is a beautiful spelling for the pronunciation you’re going for. Of the names you agree on, I think [name]Emmeline[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name] are the best. Good luck!
Out of all your choices, I def like [name]Emmaline[/name] the best. As for spelling, I don’t have a lot of experience w/ the name but have a friend who uses [name]Emmeline[/name] and I think it’s pretty either way. [name]Emmaline[/name] or [name]Emmeline[/name]. I don’t like the one M choices.
PS I feel your frustration w/ husband, mine is constantly doing this to me…makes me crazy! [name]Just[/name] when you think you get a list down, he changes his mind on half of them. Good luck in your last 2 weeks!!
