We just found out we are having a boy! Now I need some help widening my list of names to talk over with my husband. He wants something strong, I want something uncommon. We both like names that are easy to spell/pronounce, but I don’t want anything near the top 100. Our last name starts with S, which kind of puts a damper on some of the names we actually both like and agree on, [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_m]Caius[/name_m], [name_m]Ramses[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Rennon[/name_m], he thinks that it’s not quite “strong” enough, he likes [name_u]Perrin[/name_u] (a character from a book) I think it’s no stronger than [name_m]Rennon[/name_m]!
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you like
[name_m]Evander[/name_m]
[name_m]Bennet[/name_m]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
Peregrine
[name_m]Hendrick[/name_m]
[name_m]Rodrick[/name_m]
Ragner
[name_m]Leander[/name_m]
Wow, I didn’t realize how many boys names ended in “s” until I started to make this list! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like any of these names?
People certainly have a different idea of what is a strong sounding name, no doubt there will be some differences in the way you perceive a name from the way your husband feels about it. I think having him say the names outloud may put them in new light & he might consider something that you mentioned but just didn’t sound strong enough
[name_m]Maverick[/name_m]
Maddex
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_m]Fredrick[/name_m]
[name_m]Judson[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Rocco[/name_m]
[name_m]Knox[/name_m]
[name_m]Brock[/name_m]
I adore the name [name_f]Taryn[/name_f] (although some prefer the alternative [name_f]Taran[/name_f]). It’s not often used as a male name and I had a friend who wore it well. There are also a multitude of possible nn
A shame that you’re hesitant about using [name_m]Ramses[/name_m] - that one is practically my definition of a good, strong name. I really love it so much But I do agree that “…s S…” sounds between the first name and the surname can be tricky.

[name_m]Ramses[/name_m] is my husband’s number one choice right now, it may end up being the one because I agree, it is definitely the epitome of a strong name to me as well! Thanks for the affirmation about that.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! There are some I will definitely write down and see what my hubby thinks. [name_f]One[/name_f] of the reasons I like [name_m]Rennon[/name_m] is for the nn [name_u]Ren[/name_u]. If we go with [name_u]Perrin[/name_u], I could use [name_u]Ren[/name_u] as a nn for it too, no? (definitely don’t want him being called [name_u]Perry[/name_u])
His middle name will be [name_u]Jay[/name_u], I forgot to mention that on my original post.
I think of my favorites s strong warrior names: how about [name_m]Hendrik[/name_m], [name_m]Thiago[/name_m], [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m], Torben, or [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
