Our other children are [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] ([name_u]Penny[/name_u]), [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Harvey[/name_m], and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m].
First name contenders are:
[name_m]George[/name_m] (love this, unsure how well it flows with our surname, I have an Uncle [name_m]George[/name_m] who I love)
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] (Also love, however it’s top 3 where I live, and i’m worried about [name_m]Henry[/name_m] & [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] together)
[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] (I only like [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], not [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] or [name_m]Fred[/name_m], although i’d be inclined to still put [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] on the birth certificate) This is one of my husbands favourites.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] (I love, husband is meh, I hate all the nicknames, and I’m a nickname person)
[name_u]Alfie[/name_u] (Husband likes, i’m a bit meh)
Middle name was going to be [name_m]William[/name_m], but i’m not really feeling it right now. Maybe something more inventive / exciting / meaningful?
With [name_m]George[/name_m] and your surname, it really depends on how bad you think they sound together, but I think it goes well with your other kid’s names.
I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m] with your children’s names, it’s my favorite out of your names. I think they all sound so good together! I wouldn’t be too worried about [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m], they both have very different sounds. Two of my sibling’s names start with the same letter and it’s never been a problem. I also don’t think going by a last initial in school is a big deal, and that won’t always happen. I wouldn’t be too worries about popularity if you love it.
[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] isn’t my style, but that’s just me. It also reminds me of a restaurant called [name_u]Freddy[/name_u]’s but I don’t think anyone would care. (And they might not even have those where you live!)
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] has always sounded a little dated to me, but I do like it more than [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]. [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] aren’t names I would personally use, but I could totally see them on someone else’s kids.
[name_u]Alfie[/name_u] seems a little nicknamey to me, and I don’t think [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] would be your style. I prefer [name_m]Archie[/name_m], but [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] goes really well with your [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]!
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] is probably my favorite name from the bunch, but in the end it’s what you really love. All of these names are great, so whatever you decide on will be perfect!
As for middle names, I like to use family names, but I think more classic names would fit great with these. (Sorry this got a bit long, I hope you find the perfect name!)
I really like the ideas of [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] ([name_m]Jack[/name_m]'s a nickname too, so I think it could definitely work), [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_u]Alfie[/name_u]!
[name_m]William[/name_m] is nice enough with all your names but I’ll also suggest
Thanks for the suggestions and comments! Our surname is [name_m]Shey[/name_m] (not spelt this way), rhymes with Hay. So [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Shey[/name_m] isn’t too bad, but it’s harder to say than some other name combos. If we went with [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] it would definitely be [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] officially, and my husband argues this is a good choice because it gives you [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], but i’m not IN [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] with any of those.
I particularly love the suggestion of [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Shey[/name_m], but I feel like that might be a bit of a mouthful. Other names we love but don’t feel work with our surname are:
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] (because [name_u]Alex[/name_u] [name_m]Shey[/name_m] runs into each other)
[name_m]Fletcher[/name_m]
[name_m]Hamish[/name_m]
[name_m]Angus[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m]
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
Basically anything that ends in S, or has a CH sound in it.
And hands down, we’d choose [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], it was the name of the place we met, I’ve loved that name my whole life, except we called our dog [name_u]Charlie[/name_u].
This isn’t helpful, but I love all your options. They’re all good! I don’t think [name_m]George[/name_m] is too difficult to say that it’s a non-starter, although it does force your mouth to make a pause in between. And if [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] doesn’t bother you, I don’t think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] should either. I can’t help but feel like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] would be a great option for you, or maybe [name_u]Emmett[/name_u].
Thank you, that’s really kind! I don’t think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]George[/name_m] bothers me as much because there is a child and nearly 5 years between them, and they still have different initials, whereas [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] are going to be 18 months apart and therefore, mostly always together. I think I prefer the flow of [name_m]Henry[/name_m] with our surname, but I prefer [name_m]George[/name_m] as a name, as it’s not quite as common here, and gives all the kids different initials.
I do love [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], but it’s my best friends dogs name, and I can’t get my husband behind [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. Thank you for the suggestions though!
I really like all of your choices. [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] are really nice. If you are unsure about [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], I think [name_u]Francis[/name_u] with the nickname [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is nice, but not sure if it’s your style.
