I am the most indecisive person in the world but, I’ve been struggling with names for the last few days while deciding to re write the story. I’ve been playing around with a few names. I really love [name]Lydia[/name] but, I’m not quit sure. I’m open to suggestions, guys please help me out.
[name]Arielle[/name] - 1st thought Mermaid, 2nd thought aerial tower, gives a very ethereal airy bimbo-ish feel to me
[name]Lila[/name] - I never know how to pronounce this! [name]Lee[/name]-luh, Lie-luh, [name]Lil[/name]-uh, etc., feeling of uncertainty is all I get
[name]Willa[/name] - I much prefer this to [name]Lila[/name] as I feel it has only one pronunciation. It was very uncommon for the last 50 years though, so if you want your character to be in her teens or an adult (but not in her 60’s) it’s something to consider
[name]Arabella[/name] - same as [name]Willa[/name] in terms of popularity , again a very airy feel but with a bit more dust than [name]Arielle[/name]. This still feels a bit [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] to me.
[name]Lydia[/name] - very classic, but not super interesting. Solid name for a nice girl.
I think something like [name]Aubrey[/name] or [name]Audrey[/name] (from your signature) would be a great option.
It can be Lye-la or [name]Lee[/name]-la, when I first saw it I thought [name]Lee[/name]-la. I would use [name]Aubrey[/name] but, the name is already taken. I’m writing a fanfiction for Pitch Perfect. I stumbled upon the name Amberley which is a little city I’m [name]New[/name] Zealand, and [name]England[/name]. It could have a back story to it maybe?
I really, really like the name [name]Arabella[/name]. I also like [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Lila[/name]. (I actually knew someone with that name, so I know how to pronounce it. :))
I think if you like [name]Lydia[/name], go for it!
The easiest way to sort out ‘lila’ is by making it [name]Lilah[/name]. That way it reads like the end of [name]Delilah[/name] which can only be pronounced ‘de-lye-lah’.
I agree. [name]Lilah[/name] is, in my opinion, better than [name]Lila[/name]. Also, it could be short for [name]Delilah[/name], which has always been one of my favorite names.
I dunno. First time I saw [name]Delilah[/name] I thought it was pronounced De-lee-lah :). You could try spelling it [name]Lyla[/name]; I’m fairly sure no one could mistake that one.
I agree, though, if [name]Lydia[/name] is the one you love, go for it! It’s a lovely name anyway, and if after you start writing you find it doesn’t fit somehow, you can always come back for help then. Right now we know nothing about your character, so it’s kinda hard to predict what’ll work best on her.
I like [name]Willa[/name]. I agree, not many people use that sort of name. I’m not sure I remember any books with main characters named [name]Willa[/name].
