DH and I are ttc baby number 3 so names are common topic of discussion. However, we feel like we keep looking at the same names and keep coming back to the same issues with them so we are looking for some new inspiration. Below are our 2 daughters names as well as our top picks and guilty pleasures. A cohesive style is very important to me. Thanks in advance!
Boy Top Picks
[name_m]Rufus[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] ([name_u]Theo[/name_u] or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u])
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
Boy Guilty Pleasures
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m]
[name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are a wonderful set!
I also like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] with your other names, but really all your Top picks are great names. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is cute from your GP picks, but I prefer [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f].
For a boy I like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and then [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] or [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] with your girls names.
I like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] from your list. I also think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is a good fit. My favorite of your boys names is [name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
Interesting, your guilty pleasures don’t seem particularly out there compared to your top picks! Maybe a bit more frumpy? But not [name_f]Clara[/name_f] or [name_f]Tess[/name_f]!
I really like all the names on your list. I also know what it’s like to want inspiration, as we start to hear the same ten or so names over and over. Your daughters have beautiful names! [name_m]Light[/name_m] with a zest of vintage charm.
Here are some suggestions that might freshen up your already very great list.
With your daughter’s names I particularly love: [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] for girls and [name_m]Rufus[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], and [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] for boys. [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] is a name that I am currently crushing on, so I may be a tad bit biased.
@cosmonaut - A lot of our gp are clunky/frumpy names which don’t pair well with the lightness/femininity of [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. We can’t use [name_f]Clara[/name_f] because [name_f]Lilla[/name_f]'s middle name is [name_u]Clare[/name_u] or [name_f]Tess[/name_f] because our last name is Cook and I don’t like the shortness of [name_f]Tess[/name_f] Cook.
@ jtucker - [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is probably the name we would use if we had to name a baby girl today, so it is up there on our list. I do worry about the trendiness of it? [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] is our number one boy pick followed by [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. If we weren’t planning on using [name_m]Rufus[/name_m], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] would totally be in the number on spot, I love it.
@happymama1 - I especially love [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] together. I do think they might be a bit quirkier than [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] though? [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] would totally fit but I’m not sure what to use after [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. [name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] just isn’t doing it for me although I am a fan of [name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]. I really wish I could get dh on board with [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] but no such luck.
Thanks for the suggetions, I’ll update once I talk to dh.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Rufus[/name_m]! And it goes great with your set!
For the ladies, my first instinct was [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]. But you’re right that names like [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] feel clunky beside your other girls.
What about [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]? or even [name_f]Corinna[/name_f]? Lighter but a similar feel to your list.
Or [name_f]Adele[/name_f]/[name_f]Adela[/name_f]/[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]?
I also think [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] or [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] could work. It’s more popular, but not as clunky as some.
I love [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. I just named my puppy [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] so I might be biased but I think it’s a great name to go with [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. I also like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m]. For girls I love [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].
@kala_way - You’re totally right about the clunk. The names you suggested work well, they just aren’t names we like. [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]/[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] get suggested a lot for our sib-set. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and even [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] for that matter is just too popular. If you’ve got any more ideas shoot em this way, you are on the right track!
@lavenderbelle - [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] are great suggestions! I think we would only use [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] as a nickname though, possibly for [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. [name_m]Amos[/name_m] and [name_m]Eames[/name_m] are some of my top middle name picks for boys
@southernbeauty - I’m liking [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f] but DH isn’t a fan.
I love the name [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] by the way! Suggestions and picks are:
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Maple[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] for a girl-[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f]-and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] are great for a boy. I also suggest [name_f]Margo[/name_f]/[name_f]Margot[/name_f]/Margeaux for a girl, I think it’s very pretty with your other names.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] (I pronounce it [name_f]Ella[/name_f]-dee)? Nickname could be [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f]. It fits very well with [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f].
