Stuck on a middle name!

My dh and I have been having a really tough time coming up with a middle name. We’ve decided on [name_m]Julian[/name_m] for a first name and our last name is Crowder. We’d like to honor his brother, [name_m]Nelson[/name_m], by including -son or -on in [name_m]Julian[/name_m]'s middle name. The trouble is that we’re not sure if the name flows well if it ends up being something similar [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Carson[/name_u] Crowder. I can’t decide if the -n sound is too harsh. Does the first and middle name ending the same mess up the flow? I’ve also thought about the double C- sound with [name_u]Carson[/name_u] and Crowder and can’t decide on if that’s an issue or if I actually enjoy it. We’d love suggestions on how to use part of [name_m]Nelson[/name_m] in the middle name! (DH doesn’t actually like the name [name_m]Nelson[/name_m]) Thank you!

I love [name_m]Julian[/name_m]! I always think that you should choose the middle name that you like and not eliminate it because of the the flow. After the birth, we don’t often say all three of our names together and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Carson[/name_u] Cr0wder is fine.

Names containing ‘[name_f]Nel[/name_f]’

[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Connelly[/name_u]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Cornell[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Connell[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u]

Names with ‘son’
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] (this alliteration works quite well)
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Stetson[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Benson[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Dawson[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Olson[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Samson[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Robson[/name_m]

I would avoid three syllable -son names as it can lead it getting a bit rhymey

Variations/sound alikes:

[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Nielson[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Elson[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Niles[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Nilson[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Neal[/name_u] or [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Neil[/name_u] (the name means son of [name_u]Neil[/name_u])

Another cute link could be through [name_m]Lord[/name_m] [name_m]Nelson[/name_m], the most famous bearer of the name, something like

[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] (a bit much?)
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] Trafalgar
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Navy[/name_u]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Nile[/name_u]

What about [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Niall[/name_u]?

[name_u]Niall[/name_u] is the original Gaelic form of [name_u]Neil[/name_u] (as pp said, [name_m]Nelson[/name_m] means son of [name_u]Neil[/name_u]) and is pronounced “nile”, which would tie it in with [name_m]Lord[/name_m] [name_m]Nelson[/name_m] as well ([name_m]Nelson[/name_m] fought a famous battle on the [name_u]Nile[/name_u] river). I think [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Niall[/name_u] Crowder has a really great flow as well.

I don’t think [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Carson[/name_u] Cr0wder sounds bad at all. I actually like the repeating ‘n’ and ‘c’ sounds.

I also like the previous posters suggestions of [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Neil[/name_u] and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Niall[/name_u].

[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Jenson[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Nils[/name_m]/ [name_m]Niels[/name_m]/ [name_u]Niall[/name_u]/ [name_m]Nigel[/name_m]

I love [name_m]Julian[/name_m]!

Why not just [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Nels[/name_m] Crowder

The [name_u]Neil[/name_u] part of [name_m]Nelson[/name_m] is actually what he doesn’t like. I mentioned [name_u]Niall[/name_u] to him and he’s not a fan of that either. I’m not sure why, but he dislikes all variations of [name_u]Neil[/name_u] so I think we’re going to stick with trying to come up with something that incorporates -on. Thank you, though! I really appreciate your knowledge and ideas!

Thank you! I know flow isn’t a make or break deal since a full name is rarely used. I’ve just always really loved my name because it flowed well and was hoping to give my kids that gift as well.

That’s what I’ve been stuck on… I partially love the repeating ‘n’ and ‘c’ sounds, but I just can’t decide if it’s too much of a mouthful/sing-songy/alliteration.
