So my partner and I have a couple of first names picked out, but now we are totally stuck on middles names. We told our families we aren’t using family names for a middle name because some particular people would get jealous. I wanted to use my partners name for a middle name, but now we are debating that later down the track our first child will have a significant middle name and our others possibly won’t! I am so so torn as to use his name or just choose a nice name we both like for a middle name?! I feel like it’s such a stupid thing to worry about but this is also naming another human!
I dont think it’s a big deal at all. I know plenty of families whose first son carries on his fathers name (whether a jr or even the 3rd, 4th, etc) and their other children just have names they liked. It’s not uncommon and I don’t think they or anybody would think anything of it.
Not a big deal at all! A ton of people pass down their names to their first born, and nobody bats an eye. You wouldn’t expect the rest to also have family names. My brother has my dad and grandad’s name, but if there had been another boy after him, he would just have a name my parents like. Plus, its a middle name, which people rarely use or talk about.
