I would love to meet a little [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]! Although potential for teasing if shes a little brat lol! Not that that would ever happen
I love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]!
If [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is the MN, then you can’t use [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]. So I would cross that out as a FN, but maybe you could consider it for a MN instead of [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]?
I like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] the most! [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], [name_m]Truman[/name_m] & [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] sound great!
I realized after I posted that I forgot to specify that the use of [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] would be our “family tribute” in a roundabout way…and would be used with a different MN. :D. Thanks, all!
Any thoughts on [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]?
I agree that [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] should be out, since mn is [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] is too similar to [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], [name_f]IMO[/name_f]…it sounds like a lot of the sounds were just mixed up again.
For the other three options, I think a lot depends on which stylistic direction you want to go. [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], [name_m]Truman[/name_m], & [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]? [name_u]Urban[/name_u], modern kids. [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], [name_m]Truman[/name_m], & [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]? Modern but with a bit of a classic turn. [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], [name_m]Truman[/name_m], and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]? A set that revives forgotten classics. I really can’t vote, because each set is just so charming in its own way.
I like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] best with [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] and [name_m]Truman[/name_m]. What about using [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] or [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] as a fn? [name_f]Dot[/name_f], [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], [name_f]Dorie[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], etc. are all good nns. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] works but with [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] you’d need another mn-- maybe [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Dora[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Thea[/name_f]?
I really like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] with your sibset. [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], [name_m]Truman[/name_m], and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] go great together!
I picked [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], although I really like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] as well. I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is a lovely nickname for a person of any age.
I also think [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] would be great, since both of your kids’ names end in -an.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]! I like [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] but not with the mn [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] (could just be me being picky).
[name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f]Ginger[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. I think it is the best fit with brothers’ names
These are all good choices, although I think [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] fits in the best stylistically with the siblings. [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] would be a good second choice. I wouldn’t recommend [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] if you want to avoid popular names. With all the different spellings ([name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_u]Vivien[/name_u], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]) it’s more popular than would appear just based on it’s ranking.
I chose [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] because your boys have surnames as first names as well. I like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] and it lends itself to the cute nickname of [name_f]Marly[/name_f]/[name_f]Marlie[/name_f]. Also it has a decent flow with [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. My runner up would be [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] but it’s tough to use with [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] in the middle.
I suggest for a girl [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f]-[name_u]Taylor[/name_u]
I love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] the best. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is just too trendy for my tastes–it’s popping up everywhere. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] has never sounded pleasant to me, and I don’t know, she’s too clunky for [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] and [name_m]Truman[/name_m]. [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] is very nice but she’d share a first initial with [name_m]Truman[/name_m]. Whether or not that’s an issue is your call, of course. [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] are too similar in the ending to [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] and [name_m]Truman[/name_m]. Too much -an/-en going on. Also, as pp pointed out, [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is deceptively popular; the spelling variations mask its real popularity, much like Catilin and company. [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] would be a nice substitute.
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] hits all the right notes. Not trendy and not at risk of becoming so, but fresh and current. Vintage chic without trying too hard. Great nn potential and probably sounds nice with a short H___ last name. Sounds great with [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] and [name_m]Truman[/name_m]. I don’t think you can go wrong with [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]!
Thank you, everyone, for your input and your kindness.
We have a lot of food for thought, now. Much appreciated!
I voted [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], I think it will be beautiful in your sibset. I wouldn’t use [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] as the middle for it though, because it rhymes. I’d probably do [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] instead (or [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]). I know everyone on here is a fan of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] though! I love [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] by the way. I think it is beautiful, super feminine, and uncommon. It’s truly a knockout. [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] would be super cute. I’d totally swoon. Not really a fan of [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] but it would sound fine with your sibset. It is also more common then your boys names (I think, don’t quote me on that). Either way you’ll have an impeccably named sibset. I would freak if I met such a well named family in person.
Also, I think since you have two boys with surname-names ([name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] and [name_m]Truman[/name_m] are adorable!) I’d avoid [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] because it sounds too boyish with them, being another surname-name.
I like [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] but not [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. My favourite combination would be [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f]. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] sounds dated to me and I would not recommend using it.
With the sibset, [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], [name_m]Truman[/name_m], and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] would be my vote.
“[name_u]Mattie[/name_u]” is a cute NN, and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] holds well with age and has a strong meaning.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is the best of both worlds in that sense. Fun, spunky, little-girl turned to sophisticated, powerful woman.
However, I am partial to the name [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], as that allows for NN “[name_f]Marlee[/name_f]” which I have a particular fondness for.
That being said- I do indeed think [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is your best option.
I.like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
