Sturdy Name for 3rd Daughter!

[name]Hi[/name] all. I’m very new to Name [name]Berry[/name], but I need some help coming up with a name for the daughter my husband and I are expecting. We have two daughters already. Their names were picked, for the most part, long before they were born. Our oldest is [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Lennox[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. I’ve loved “The [name]Secret[/name] Garden” for as long as I can remember, so I always knew I’d name my first daughter [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Lennox[/name], and [name]Rose[/name] was DH’s grandmother’s name. Our younger daughter is [name]Prudence[/name] [name]Virginia[/name]. My husband is a huge Beatles’ fan, and so our daughter is named for the song “Dear [name]Prudence[/name]”. [name]Virginia[/name] was my grandmother’s name.

Basically, my husband and I both used our “absolute favorite” names and we are stuck. We want this daughter to have a great name story and a great name as well but we just can’t come up with something! The only word I can find to describe our style is “sturdy”. We like names that feel strong, serious and old-fashioned. Not too frilly or feminine, but not unisex or too modern sounding. Does that make sense? My husband is sort of picky (he seems to have lots of bad name associations) but I’m pretty open, so please give any suggestions you think would fit. Also we don’t want something very common, popular or of-the-moment. Our last name is Naughton (rhymes with “cotton”). For middles I was thinking we could feminize one of our grandfather’s names. Mine was [name]Edwin[/name] and my husband’s was [name]Eugene[/name], so we could go with [name]Edwina[/name] or [name]Eugenie[/name], or something else, depending on the first name.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I’ve always loved [name]Eugenie[/name]. What about [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]? [name]Margaret[/name] is equally sturdy and attractive.

[name]Love[/name] the suggestion of [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name] Naughton!

Wow! [name]Prudence[/name] and [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Lennox[/name] are so beautiful! Lets see, strong and sturdy…[name]Edwina[/name] is certainly nice and I like it said ed-WAYN-nuh but not ed-WEE-nuh. [name]Eugenie[/name] is pretty as well but I don’t think it exactly fits the same style of [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Lennox[/name] and [name]Prudence[/name] however it would make a awesome middle name!

Here are some names I think go well with [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Lennox[/name] & [name]Prudence[/name]:
Annevieve (AN-uh-veev)
[name]Augusta[/name] ([name]Love[/name] [name]Augusta[/name] with your daughter’s names!)
[name]Veronica[/name] or [name]Vera[/name]

What about taking another [name]Secret[/name] Garden or Beatles name? Like…

[name]Martha[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Edwina[/name]

[name]Both[/name] sound sturdy to me.
I’m curious, do you call your daughter [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Lennox[/name] or [name]Mary[/name]?

I love [name]Eugenie[/name] and think it would actually make a really good first name if you’d consider that? Then she’d have a story to go with her first name too! Are there any other bands, singers, actors, books, films etc that you and your husband really love that could be used for inspiration?

I love a lot of the suggestions you have already but also like:

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]

[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]

[name]Jemima[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]
[name]Elsa[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]
[name]Zuzanna[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name] (If you love “It’s a Wonderful World” like I do then you could nn her [name]Zuzu[/name] and she’d have a story too!)
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]
[name]Helen[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]
[name]Claudia[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]

[name]Ruth[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]

Let me know if you like any!

I think that since your first two daughters have such meaningful names with such wonderful back stories, then maybe you should find something else you both love for your third daughter’s name.

Is there a way to combine [name]Eugene[/name] and [name]Edwin[/name] into a name so you can honour both relatives?
[name]Edwina[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]/[name]Eugenie[/name] [name]Edwina[/name] (too many E’s I think).
[name]Edwina[/name] [name]Jean[/name]/[name]Gene[/name]

Or something that combines both your love of the beatles and the secret garden.

From the secret garden

[name]Martha[/name] would be the obvious since it appears for both.
[name]Martha[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]
[name]Martha[/name] [name]Jean[/name]
[name]Martha[/name] [name]Edwina[/name]/[name]Edina[/name]

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Jean[/name]
[name]Eugenia[/name] [name]Susan[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Edina[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Jean[/name]
[name]Carol[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Edwina[/name]
[name]Frances[/name] Cayeene
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Carol[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Frances[/name]

[name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name] is fantastic! [name]Love[/name], love it with your last name.

More ideas-

I like [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name], of course. (Cause [name]Margaret[/name]'s my name… :))
I like [name]Martha[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name] as well.
However, I think that you should try to come up with a name that has a story behind it as well. Your third daughter might feel left out…
What about a favorite movie or something…?
