I like the fairly unusual but not unheard of type, I’d say, with a dash of traditional. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t tend to be a fan of unisex, but I do like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and could possibly be persuaded by some others.
Anyone have any suggestions? Combos would be fun too.
Thank you, there are so many awesome suggestions here! You’ve given me a very intriguing list.
[name_m]Denzel[/name_m] and [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] are previous considerations - maybe I should lift them off the shelf, dust them off, and reevaluate. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_m]Denzel[/name_m] is too tied to [name_m]Denzel[/name_m] [name_m]Washington[/name_m]? (I’ve never even heard of him but Nameberry seems to think that would be an instant association.) It has such a cool sound though.
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u] could be interesting, but I don’t feel it quite fits in with my more established favourites . . . maybe I’ll have to ponder that.
[name_m]Altair[/name_m] is possibly my favourite off your list. I love the meaning (“falcon”), it’s a star, which is quite cool, and I do think it fits my other favourites, like [name_m]Marcus[/name_m], [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m], [name_m]Evander[/name_m], etc. Since I love [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], but find it quite popular, this is a very clever suggestion.
I also like [name_m]Theon[/name_m], [name_m]Fabian[/name_m], [name_m]Lysander[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Jonas[/name_m], and [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]. (Maybe [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Fraser[/name_m]??) Not too keen on [name_m]Theon[/name_m]'s meaning (“godly”) so maybe I should find a longer version. [name_m]Lysander[/name_m]'s great, though - I think it’ll end up being a contender with [name_m]Leander[/name_m] for a place on my list.
I like your combos [name_m]Luther[/name_m] [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] and [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] the best. Oh, and [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]!
I really like [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], in fact I would have put it in my example list if I’d not been worried about my post being super long!
For some reason I’ve never been keen on [name_m]Ewan[/name_m] . . . don’t know why, since I like [name_u]Evan[/name_u] and [name_m]Evander[/name_m].
[name_m]Caius[/name_m], [name_m]Hadrian[/name_m], and [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] are my other favourites. [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] vies with [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] and usually loses. But [name_m]Hadrian[/name_m] especially is an interesting suggestion. I shall have a good think about it, thank you for replying!
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] are great, I just dislike that both are so popular. (I mean, I’ve never met an [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], but it’s somewhere in the 40s in [name_f]England[/name_f] and [name_m]Wales[/name_m].) It’s SO annoying! I could see myself using them regardless (particularly [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]) especially as I probably will never meet very many kids with the names anyway. But it still annoys me! That’s why I would prefer to use less common names, like [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] and [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m], that have the nicknames I love ([name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m]) . . . which my family would probably find really weird . . .
