Expecting baby #3 (we don’t know what we are having) and we are stumped for potential boy names.
We have a [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] (always [name_u]Theo[/name_u]) and a [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].
Names that one or both of us like but don’t feel like “the one” include:
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Ephraim[/name_m]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_m]Angus[/name_m]
[name_m]Rye[/name_m]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
[name_m]Harry[/name_m]
And more on our list but we don’t have any clear front runners. None of these are even on a short list for sure… just “maybes”
Are you in the US or another country? I ask because [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is growing in popularity in the US, UK, and Australia, and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is top 100 in both the UK and Australia at the moment. So I’d wonder if you were just trying to avoid a Top 20 name versus a Top 100 name in your definition of “popularity”.
I think [name_m]Felix[/name_m] fits with the spunky vibe. If [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] were called “[name_m]Abe[/name_m]” it might slot into that category too. I love the suggestion of [name_m]Casper[/name_m] nn “Caz”, and you could go with “[name_m]Seb[/name_m]” or “[name_m]Baz[/name_m]” for more spunky nicknames for [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] rank about the same for popularity as [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and are also shorter and fresh–[name_u]Finn[/name_u] also has a lot of history behind it despite it’s apparent nickname status, but I’m less sure about [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. Since some of your names have a religious significance, you might also like [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] nn “Xave” (religious inclination not required! I’m considering this for my son! Husband is Catholic, I am not.).
I’m in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is pretty much unheard of here at all and my [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is 6 - when we chose his name it had been in the 400-500 range for popularity. Not a fan of how it has suddenly started trending.
We would never do anything in top 100 and hopefully far less common…
I like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] but it is my nephew’s name! We like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] too vs [name_m]Casper[/name_m] but also used in our immediate circle.
We are not religious at all. Hubby is a teacher so lots of names get an immediate “no” response lol
[name_m]Just[/name_m] finding this one tough! Thanks for the suggestions!
I like [name_m]Felix[/name_m] and [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] with [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].
[name_m]Amos[/name_m]
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m] nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u] nn [name_u]Gus[/name_u]
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m] nn [name_m]Mac[/name_m]
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ned[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] nn [name_u]Nat[/name_u]
[name_u]Remy[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m]
[name_u]Wylie[/name_u]
