Suggestions for Baby Girl

My husband and I are finally expecting after years of trying! Our baby girl is due at the new year, and we’re really struggling with names. Here’s what we agree on so far, but we’re not sure any of these are “the one” :

  1. [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] (nicknamed [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]) - - this is probably our favorite because both of our dads have a [name_m]Frank[/name_m] name. We both love [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], but we’re not sure about [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]. And we do want a longer full name. We have looked into other [name_m]Frank[/name_m] names like [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_f]Francine[/name_f], but haven’t found any we really like. Any other [name_m]Frank[/name_m] suggestions??

  2. [name_f]Nicolina[/name_f] (nicknamed [name_u]Nic[/name_u] or [name_f]Nika[/name_f]) - - we like it, but we secondly definitely don’t want her to be a [name_f]Nicki[/name_f].

  3. [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f] (nicknamed [name_f]Tia[/name_f] or [name_u]Tate[/name_u]) - - I think I like this one more than my husband, but he hasn’t vetoed it!

  4. [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]-- really different from all our other names and more popular than we like, but we keep coming back to it.

Her middle name will probably be [name_f]May[/name_f] or a [name_m]Frank[/name_m] feminization (both honor names), and our last name is pronounced like oh-mah-sitz. We seem to like longer ethnic names with spunky nicknames, but we’re open to any names at this point as long as they aren’t too frilly or nature-y.

I’d love to hear comments on our current list and any suggestions you may have.

Thanks everyone!!

I love [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]!

[name_f]Franca[/name_f]
Franseza
Francette
Fransisca
[name_f]Adrianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Camila[/name_f]
[name_f]Carina[/name_f]
[name_f]Carissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Graciela[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Shania[/name_f]
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]
[name_f]Valeria[/name_f]

The first 3 names are quite far from my style. I’m not sure if it would work for you, but I think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] sounds spunky and adorable!

I heard a name which I liked the most. It is [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] which can be nicknamed as [name_u]Abi[/name_u]… I felt it as very cute.

For [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] as an alternative to [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] you can try [name_f]Francisca[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Francine[/name_f] or if where you live it’s possible, [name_u]Fran[/name_u]çoise.

[name_f]Nicolina[/name_f] feels very Italian and Eastern European, so if you want a nickname that steers clear of [name_u]Nicky[/name_u], I think [name_f]Nina[/name_f] (and [name_f]Lina[/name_f]) would be perfect and very stylish and chic.

My best friend is [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f] and she goes by [name_f]Tati[/name_f], of course she’s from [name_u]Brazil[/name_u] so it sounds like [name_m]Tah[/name_m]-Chee (as in Cheese), but I don’t see why the pronunciation more straight-forward from her name would be a problem. It’s quite cute and different from all other names on the playground.

I would go with [name_f]Lila[/name_f] but without the “h” at the end. I don’t think it’s necessary and it makes the name look trendy.

[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] are my favorites. If you want a longer name with the nn [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] you could name her [name_f]Delilah[/name_f].

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] (although I slightly prefer [name_f]Lila[/name_f]) and [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] are my favorites.

I like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] best from your list.

My favorite from your choices is [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f] (nicknamed [name_f]Tia[/name_f] or [name_u]Tate[/name_u]) This is really cute!

From your [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] (adorable by the way…) choices my absolute favorite is [name_f]Francine[/name_f]. It is my favorite girl’s name right now. It just feels so glamorous but at the same time spunky. Some others you can try are [name_f]Franca[/name_f], [name_f]Fanya[/name_f], [name_f]Fransabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Franzetta[/name_f], or [name_f]Franziska[/name_f]. All are quite usable forms of [name_f]Frances[/name_f]/[name_m]Frank[/name_m]. I also love nn’s [name_f]Franny[/name_f] and [name_f]Francie[/name_f].

Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m] to you!

I was thinking [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] too! Perfect combination. That way you get the [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] you love without using a name you don’t. I prefer the spelling [name_f]Lila[/name_f].

  1. [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] (nicknamed [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]) - I’m not a fan of [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] unless there is a strong Italian heritage. My preference would be [name_f]Francine[/name_f]. [name_f]Francine[/name_f] is fresh and has a touch of class. I’ve always liked [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] for a nn or as a fn.

  2. [name_f]Nicolina[/name_f] (nicknamed [name_u]Nic[/name_u] or [name_f]Nika[/name_f]) - Again, not my style, unless there is a strong Greek connection. It has a very strong ethnic sound to me. I do like [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] and [name_u]Nikki[/name_u].

  3. [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f] (nicknamed [name_f]Tia[/name_f] or [name_u]Tate[/name_u]) - These nn’s are adorable, but again [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f] just feels like a Russian Gymnast to me.

  4. [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] - Although I prefer the spelling [name_f]Lila[/name_f], (your daughter will appreciate it also) this name has my preference of all these. The only downside for me is the rising popularity of the name.

We are naming our baby girl [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] when she is born this [name_u]March[/name_u], so that gets my vote

I think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] [name_f]Francine[/name_f] would be perfect and nn [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is the icing on the cake!

I have a little niece named [name_f]Francine[/name_f]. She is the joy of our family. My vote goes to [name_f]Francine[/name_f] [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]. She will love her name!
