So I have this need to have literary ties for children’s names, since I was lost in the world of books as a child and certain stories/authors impacted me greatly. My son’s name is [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], in the (hopefully near future for baby #2) I have a boy’s name picked out ([name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], for [name_f]Laura[/name_f] Ingalls [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], Thronton [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], biblical [name_m]Luke[/name_m]).
Anyway, if we have a girl, I would like to be able to incorporate a nod to C.S. [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. Unfortunately [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is out of the picture, and I want to love [name_f]Susan[/name_f] ([name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]) or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] ([name_f]Lulu[/name_f]) and love the nn, but not the names themselves…so I was thinking a combo of C.S. (but we would just call her by her name, not C.S.). So thinking of combos like:
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] are the only two I can really think to add to your list! [name_f]Love[/name_f] this idea, though.
C names aren’t really my thing, and the ones I think are lovely have already been mentioned - [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] (only one on my list), [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. You could do [name_f]Corrine[/name_f]/[name_f]Corina[/name_f] for [name_m]Cor[/name_m] and [name_u]Corin[/name_u]!
For what it’s worth, I think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Serena[/name_f] are beautiful. I also like the idea of using [name_f]Susan[/name_f]/[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] as a middle name, if you still want a more obvious [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] reference.
More S names: [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_u]Silver[/name_u] (The [name_u]Silver[/name_u] Chair!), [name_f]Snow[/name_f], [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]…
Have you thought of [name_u]June[/name_u] (the name of the girl who inspired the character of [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]), [name_f]Jill[/name_f]/[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] or [name_f]Polly[/name_f] (two other Friends of [name_f]Narnia[/name_f])?
C AND S names are SUPER difficult, which is why I kinda like the challenge:)
[name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_u]Silver[/name_u] is just awesome sounding!
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Silver[/name_u] would be lovely too!
I keep coming back to [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] (even though it would be “so nameberry” of me to have a kid named [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], ha ha!).
I was also thinking [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]…but that might be a bit much:)
I like [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] which also has a strong [name_f]Laura[/name_f] Ingalls [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] connection. (Her mother and sister). [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f], or [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] Solace could all work.
I also like [name_f]Christine[/name_f], which may be somewhat dated for many people, but I like it. It has Phantom of the [name_f]Opera[/name_f]. [name_f]Christine[/name_f] [name_f]Sue[/name_f], [name_f]Christine[/name_f] [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f], [name_f]Christine[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], etc.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] [name_f]Susan[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] ([name_m]King[/name_m] Lear, [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables) [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f]
[name_f]Coretta[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Clarinda[/name_f] [name_u]Silver[/name_u]
[name_u]Carmen[/name_u] [name_f]Sarita[/name_f]
I think with the names [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], you should have a relatively uncommon first name for the daughter too. Unfortunately, [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] do not fit the bill. It should have an older sound to it too.
Some C names that I think might work:
[name_f]Cambria[/name_f]
[name_f]Cambrie[/name_f]
[name_f]Camilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Clea[/name_f]
[name_f]Catalina[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] are more common, so maybe something a little more common
S names:
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]/a
[name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] (love this, but almost everyone not on nameberry pronounces it wrong! Which is why it’s good for the middle but not first)
[name_f]Sally[/name_f]
[name_f]Susan[/name_f] / [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]/[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_u]Sloane[/name_u]
[name_u]Scout[/name_u]
Coraline Silver is just awesome sounding!
Clementine Silver would be lovely too!
I keep coming back to Clementine (even though it would be “so nameberry” of me to have a kid named Atticus and Clementine, ha ha!).
I was also thinking Clementine Seraphina…but that might be a bit much
I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]/[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Silver[/name_u]! I think [name_u]Silver[/name_u] would be a fun, meaningful middle name, and I’ve always been partial to [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].
I think either [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] or [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] would probably go best with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], of all the suggestions I’ve seen.
