I’m trying to work on my girls names and I feel like I should like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], it’s got everything I like; history, meaning, cute nicknames, but it just isn’t sitting right.
Some others that I’ve considered
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]: Definitely quirky and vintage, like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but far less common and a little more southern. It evokes both [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] to me. NN options: [name_u]Tally[/name_u], [name_f]Lula[/name_f], [name_u]Lou[/name_u]. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]: This quirky yet elegant and feminine name has history, gravity, and loads of wonderful nickname options ([name_f]Dot[/name_f], [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], or even [name_f]Thea[/name_f]). It strikes me as having the style of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but the substance of [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]/[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]: State names, like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], with lots of substance but also such beautiful style and flow. NN options: [name_u]Georgie[/name_u], [name_f]Gia[/name_f], [name_f]Ana[/name_f]. [name_f]Julia[/name_f]/[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]: Both of these are classic beauties, with the latter striking me as a more feminine [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]. The nickname options [name_u]Jules[/name_u] and Lette are fantastic. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]: Both of these are beautiful, meaningful historic classics with nicknames galore. ([name_u]Dell[/name_u], [name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f] or [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], [name_m]Fred[/name_m], [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], etc.) [name_f]Claudia[/name_f]: A name with history, impact, and spunk, like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but the formality of [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] and [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. Nickname options include [name_f]Clio[/name_f]/[name_f]Clia[/name_f], [name_f]Claudie[/name_f], [name_f]Dia[/name_f], and [name_f]Audi[/name_f].) [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]: [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] reminded me of this, and it shares many of those sounds plus has the “-a” ending you tend to favor. NN Options: [name_f]Henny[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Rita[/name_f]. [name_f]Helena[/name_f]: A little less quirky, but a little more elegant than [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]. This name has tons of style, depth, and meaning. NN options: [name_f]Lena[/name_f], Hel.
Other thoughts: [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Eva[/name_f] or [name_u]Angel[/name_u], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] nn [name_u]Clem[/name_u] or [name_u]Clemmy[/name_u], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Opal[/name_f] or [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] nn [name_u]Jem[/name_u] or [name_f]Mimi[/name_f]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped!
