My partner and I discussed names last night for the first time (seriously) and wow, was it an eye-opener! While I love names that are far from common and a little more atypical (just a few of my favourites include [name_m]Emrys[/name_m], [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f], [name_u]Wynn[/name_u], Freyja & [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]), he’s all about traditional/classic/popular names, and only the full name, he dislikes nicknames (having grown up and named his previous kids with names such as [name_m]David[/name_m], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_f]Emily[/name_f] & [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]). He didn’t actually make any real suggestions as to names he likes for a child, but he either vetoed, made a funny face or completely massacred the pronunciation of near all of my suggestions. The only one of my loves that he was on board with, was [name_u]August[/name_u]. I think he might come around to liking a few others given time and growing familiarity with them, but for the most part, he’s stuck in ‘familiar’ mode.
So, with all of that in mind, can you think of any names that both he & I might like:
Me: uncommon, nice history & a good dash of both zest and whimsy.
Him: no-nonsense, familiar & easily pronounced.
