Suggestions needed for Tanya's twins!

My friend is expecting twins. They don’t know the genders for sure, but if they are boy/girl, their names will be Frank and Barbra. She wants everyone to be honest about the names - she’s skeptical because their oldest told her that the twins would be teased for their names. When I hear [name]Frank[/name], I just think of the grumpy father in Everybody Loves [name]Raymond[/name]…

Any suggestions for [name]Tanya[/name]?

Older siblings are [name]Emily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], and [name]William[/name].

[name]Frank[/name] is not as bad as [name]Barbara[/name]! Together they are super dated. The siblings have way better names.

Honestly, I really don’t like them. They seem really dated. The only people I know with those names are in their 70’s. I love their siblings names. Maybe something more classic like [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]James[/name] would fit better.

I think [name]Frank[/name] is so handsome and definitely usable, I’d love to meet a [name]Frank[/name], such a sturdy classic, it’s on my list. When I hear the name [name]Frank[/name] I think of [name]Stetson[/name] hats, black and white films from the 40’s and the days back when men were men. [name]Barbara[/name] seems very strange to me due to its serious popularity a couple of generations ago, not ready for a comeback, imo. Also the fact that a very famous former-first-lady is named [name]Barbara[/name] also give off that white-haired image.

I think sticking with the classics seems to go with the flow of this sib set. The siblings seem like they have a very straight forward, honorable/respectable and virtuous feel so I’ll try to think of names that bring up that image.

[name]Emily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Emily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Emily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Cora[/name]
[name]Emily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Helen[/name]
[name]Emily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Julia[/name]
[name]Emily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Clara[/name]
[name]Emily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Emily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Frank[/name] and [name]June[/name]
[name]Emily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Ruth[/name]

I quite like [name]Frank[/name], I think it’s handsome and sophisticated and very uncommon these days, but fits with the style of vintage revival.

[name]Barbara[/name], on the other hand, sounds very dated - I like a lot of dated names, but next to [name]Frank[/name], it’s overload. Something a little less dated and a little more timeless would be good here. To go with [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] - [name]Jane[/name], [name]Susannah[/name] ([name]Sarah[/name]?), [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Rachel[/name] or [name]Rebecca[/name]. I honestly think [name]Rachel[/name] or [name]Rebecca[/name] would be the perfect compliment here.

not a fan of frank, i like fredric nn fred much more. i have a soft spot for barbara

I think both [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Barbara[/name] sound a bit dated.
[name]Emily[/name], [name]Grace[/name], and [name]William[/name] feel much more timeless and contemporary. I liked some of @amandaberry’s suggestions. Some of my suggestions would be repeats.

Girls:
[name]Rose[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Julia[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Lucille[/name] ([name]Lucy[/name]), [name]Rachel[/name], [name]Carrie[/name]

Boys:
[name]James[/name], [name]Fredrick[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Joshua[/name], [name]Jason[/name], [name]Eric[/name], [name]Andrew[/name], [name]Michael[/name]

Oh ick …they are awful together…please help her pick different names

I will echo the sentiments of those above who think that [name]Frank[/name] might possibly be do-able but [name]Barbra[/name]?! I think the odds of both those children eventually being unhappy to some degree with their names is pretty high, but especially for the little girl. I don’t see anything attractive in the name [name]Barbra[/name], especially that spelling. I just would never. And this is coming from someone who likes some old clunkers.

I do like [name]Frankie[/name] as a nickname - more for a girl ([name]Frances[/name]), but also for a boy ([name]Francis[/name]).

If [name]Barbra[/name] is meant to honor someone, I wish your friend could find a way of doing so which would be much more pleasant for her daughter to grow up with.

wow they are different to the sibs! [name]Frank[/name] could be cute, especially [name]Frankie[/name] as a little boy. [name]Barbra[/name] though seems v old, I think of [name]Barbie[/name] dolls or [name]Barbra[/name] Streisand.

i think they can do much better. their other kids have classic, timeless names. frank & barbra are old, dated, & frumpy :frowning:

I actually like both of these names because I already know two kids with these names. They’re not siblings, but they’re both younger children.

They generally just go by [name]Frankie[/name] and [name]Bee[/name]. [name]Frank[/name] is definitely more accessable to a lot of people, but I think with those nicknames they fit in with the rest of the family just fine.

[name]Barbra[/name] and [name]Frank[/name]? Hmm. Sounds a bit “plain” for me, I do love classic names, but both of them are dated to me.
I like:
[name]Joshua[/name] & [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Jacob[/name] & [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Micheal[/name] & [name]Lillian[/name]
[name]John[/name] & [name]Vivian[/name]

I totally [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Frank[/name] and [name]Barbra[/name] or [name]Barbara[/name] for B/G twins! These are truly classic names. It makes me laugh when I hear “dated” (such a cop out) [name]Frank[/name] is totally classic and has such a great nn [name]Frankie[/name]! You can’t get any more classic than [name]Barbara[/name] with the nn’s [name]Bee[/name], [name]Babs[/name] and the all time classic [name]Barbie[/name] (which I [name]LOVE[/name] even more). What a very strong and brave move for [name]Tanya[/name]. I admire her for using these great names.
