I’ve really been loving the name [name]Cecily[/name] lately, but would like some confirmation that I’m pronouncing it correctly. SESS-ill-ee, or maybe a little more like SESS-uh-lee. Is this correct? Also, I like names to have the option of using a nn, but I can’t really think of a good one for [name]Cecily[/name]. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out and give me some advice!
Dictionary.com says it’s ses-uh-lee and Behind the Name lists SES-i-lee, so you’re pronouncing it correctly. Nicknames include Sessa, Ceci, Cece, [name]Celia[/name], [name]Celie[/name], [name]Cilla[/name], [name]Lee[/name], and [name]Lia[/name]…
Yep, you’re pronouncing it correctly. I say SESS-uh-lee. I know a little girl named [name]Cecily[/name] who sometimes uses the nickname Cece (see-see), which is adorable. Other possible nicknames:
Thanks everyone for the pronunciation help, and all the nn sugestions! You guys came up with some really good ones!!! ;-). I’m liking Cece/CC (especialy if we use a middle name that starts with a C), [name]Lily[/name] (never would have thought of this, but I [name]LOVE[/name] it), [name]Celie[/name], [name]Lee[/name] and [name]Seeley[/name]. Great suggestions!!! We would probably just use [name]Cecily[/name] most of the time, but it’s fun to have the option of an occasional nn. Thanks everyone for all the inspiration!! Any and all suggestions are welcome, or comments on the current list… Thanks a bunch!!!
My [name]SIL[/name]'s name is [name]Cecily[/name] and everyone calls her Cecy (Sess-ee). I love the name but I don’t really see a reason to have a nickname, it’s to pretty to shorten.
You are pronouncing it right. I say Sess-uh-lee or Sess-i-lee, they are basically the same.
We would probably name our future daughter [name]Cecily[/name] “Cici.” Her ln would start with a C as well, so it works on two levels. Cecy would be a cute nn too.
