Suggestions please

Hey there, It has been quite a while since I posted.

I am very newly pregnant with my second child and extremely stuck on sibling names to compliment my 2 year old daughters. Her name is [name]Priya[/name]. I don’t want another indian name as we are not [name]Indian[/name] but am open to any other suggestions. I’d love to hear what you would name a brother or sister for little [name]Priya[/name].

Thanks in advance!

[name]How[/name] about [name]Aria[/name] for a girl? For a boy, [name]Julian[/name] was the first name to come to mind.

[name]Priya[/name] and:

Like any?

O, I love [name]Priya[/name]. My first thought was [name]Indira[/name] or [name]Adrian[/name]. But you don’t want another [name]Indian[/name] name so [name]Indira[/name] is out. [name]How[/name] about:
[name]Jael[/name] / [name]Yael[/name]
[name]Una[/name] / [name]Oona[/name]

Thanks for your ideas! I’ll comment on the ones that stand out to give you an idea on our tastes.

I threw [name]Julian[/name] out there to se what DH would think and I gotta say he hated it, however, it did bring a name he loves to mind. apparently [name]Jude[/name] is one of his favorite names.

[name]Naomi[/name]: [name]Love[/name], but it was fairly popular in Australia the year I was born and as a result I have three friends named [name]Naomi[/name].
[name]Sadie[/name]: Cute but DH can’t get past ‘[name]Sadie[/name] the Cleaning Lady’.
[name]Rowan[/name]: Like but I know a [name]Rowan[/name]. Can I rule out the names of every person I’ve ever known?
[name]Evadne[/name]: I find something about [name]Evadne[/name] very appealing but DH hates.
[name]Lilac[/name]: Okay.
[name]Viveka[/name]: I like [name]Viveca[/name].
[name]Dashiell[/name]: I like but DH doesn’t.
[name]Felix[/name]: I love but DH doesn’t.
[name]Hugo[/name]: Friends son’s name.

Now is as good a time as any to fill you in on our list.

DH pretty much has his heart set on [name]Digby[/name] for a boy and I love [name]Daphne[/name] for a girl but we could never use both.

[name]Juniper[/name]: DH’s favorite for a girl but I’m worried it’ll be the next big celebrity name and I’m not sure it goes great with [name]Priya[/name]. [name]Love[/name] the nn options though.
[name]Elsa[/name]: [name]Love[/name] but it’s meaning is too religious for us.
[name]Luella[/name]: [name]Lu[/name] names are becoming pretty popular
[name]Isolde[/name]: worried about pronunciation.
[name]Bonnie[/name]: My grandmothers name but much more popular than [name]Priya[/name] ranking 174 in my state in 2007 and going up.
[name]Alma[/name]: My great grandmothers name.

[name]Hammond[/name]: [name]Love[/name]. Mother’s maiden name. [name]Ham[/name] isn’t a great nn though.

Any more ideas or sugestions would be great.

Thanks

[name]Priya[/name] is very pretty.
More ideas-

Thanks, I like:

[name]Iris[/name]- Last name starts with an S though.

I still haven’t found THE name though…

I know lovely little girl named Indali and I think it is really pretty and her sister is [name]Sari[/name], they are not [name]Indian[/name] either.

My suggestion if you don’t want an [name]Indian[/name] first name is [name]Eva[/name] Indali.

Also [name]Sybella[/name] [name]Imogen[/name]

For a brother I do like Khan but if you are not looking for an [name]Indian[/name] style name then I like

[name]Joel[/name] [name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Ethan[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Zachary[/name] [name]Dexter[/name]
[name]Simon[/name] [name]Hammond[/name]

I am looking forward to your feedback.

rollo

I love [name]Priya[/name], it sounds so feminine and precious  What about:

Hello, sorry for taking a while to reply. With [name]Christmas[/name] so close it is hard to steal a moment to write a proper response

[name]Rollo[/name], [name]Sari[/name] has actually been on my list in the past but my DH scraped it because of a negative association with the [name]Sari[/name] Club bombing in Indonesia.

I don’t know why I don’t love names like Indali and [name]Indira[/name]. I think I usually prefer 2 syllable names. Of course there are always exceptions.

I love [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Sybella[/name] but DH wont go for either if them.

I do like Khan but it might have to grow on me. Perhaps something that isn’t so foreign as Khan but not as common as the other names you have suggested.

minkajoy, You’ve listed so many names I love- [name]Mabel[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Margo[/name], [name]Fiona[/name], [name]Wesley[/name], [name]Leon[/name], [name]Harvey[/name], [name]Hamish[/name] and [name]Victor[/name].

The problem is my DH seems to really want an obscure name. He doesn’t want a foreign sounding for a boy though which is why he loves [name]Digby[/name] and [name]Hammond[/name].

What about:

Hello [name]Hannah[/name]

I guess that you must be an Aussie (like me) or at least your DH must be to think of the [name]Sari[/name] Club connection, and to be honest I had never connected [name]Sari[/name] in that way before, and I can see why it may be offputting, and that is a shame when you really like the name so much.

I will try to think of some more options.
[name]Ronan[/name] ([name]Love[/name])
[name]Huon[/name] (very Tasmanian)
[name]Roland[/name] nn [name]Rollo[/name]
[name]Harry[/name]! [name]Love[/name] it.

Am I getting warm?

bb, I like [name]Barnaby[/name] and [name]Desmond[/name] from your boys list

[name]Rollo[/name], yep we’re Aussies! I must confess I already know you were Australian as I’ve lurked on this forum quite a bit

Much warmer on the boys list. I like [name]Ronan[/name], [name]Miles[/name], [name]Kirk[/name], [name]Huon[/name], [name]Moses[/name], [name]Cormac[/name], [name]Murray[/name], [name]Walter[/name] and [name]Boyd[/name]. Still nothing that I love anywhere near as much as DH loves his favorite names.

He is so set on [name]Digby[/name] or [name]Jude[/name] for a boy and [name]Daphne[/name] or [name]Juniper[/name] for a girl that he says no to everything else. I do really like these names a lot but I was so sure about [name]Priya[/name]'s name when she was born. I want to feel the same way this time but I just don’t know if these names flow okay with [name]Priya[/name] or not.

From your girls list I like [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Delia[/name], [name]Bonnie[/name] and [name]Lola[/name]. I mentioned in a post on the first page of this thread that I love [name]Bonnie[/name] as it’s my [name]Nan[/name]'s name. I didn’t mention however, that DH had a dog named [name]Bonnie[/name]. He has said we can use it in the middle if it goes with the first name, Yay!

I have to agree with your husband. A name like [name]Priya[/name] is very distinct and I think it would outshine other, less-distinct names!
[name]Jude[/name] is my FAVE boys name and I really like the sounds of [name]Daphne[/name] and [name]Juniper[/name] with [name]Priya[/name].
Excellent taste!!

A few combos from the ones you like so far

[name]Huon[/name] [name]Walter[/name] This is very nice
[name]Miles[/name] [name]Digby[/name] I like this but not as a sister to [name]Priya[/name] because [name]Priya[/name] is a soft sweet sound and this smart combo doesn’t seem to match.
[name]Murray[/name] [name]Cormac[/name] I like the combo but find [name]Cormac[/name] too Scottish for [name]Priya[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name] [name]Jude[/name] [name]How[/name] today is this combo? I would choose this in a heartbeat. sib [name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Priya[/name], this works well
[name]Boyd[/name] [name]Walter[/name] with sister [name]Priya[/name] I think that [name]Boyd[/name] is too abrupt (I love the name) so [name]Walter[/name] [name]Boyd[/name] works better
[name]Jude[/name] [name]Murray[/name] Original, smart very nice I like the look of [name]Priya[/name] and [name]Murray[/name] together

Guess what we had a dog named [name]Bonnie[/name] too! Great name.

[name]Digby[/name] and [name]Priya[/name] are poles apart in style, the nn that comes to mind with [name]Digby[/name] is Didgery doo or Digger.(both very Aussie terms). I would prefer it as a middle name only.

I can see [name]Juniper[/name] and [name]Priya[/name] as sisters

[name]Imogen[/name], [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Delia[/name] go well with sister [name]Priya[/name]. I was going to suggest [name]Juniper[/name] [name]Bonnie[/name] as I like the combo and then juniper berry immediately popped into my head (so I guess that combo is out).

An [name]Imogen[/name] imo is a girl with a ton of get up and go, in a rush to discover the world but [name]Delia[/name] is quieter, more relaxed and very ladylike and [name]Lola[/name] is the cheeky one.

So at the moment my choices for a sister to [name]Priya[/name] are:

[name]Juniper[/name] [name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name] [name]Jude[/name]

rollo

You have given me some things to think about [name]Rollo[/name]. I like [name]Juniper[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Ronan[/name] [name]Jude[/name]. I also don’t mind [name]Juniper[/name] [name]Bonnie[/name]. The [name]Juniper[/name] [name]Berry[/name] thing doesn’t bother me all that much. time to run a few of these combos by DH.

Thanks

First of all - I LOOOOOVE love love the name [name]Priya[/name]. I knew a little girl by this name and she was the most adorable child I’d ever met. The name has been scratched off my list however as it rhymes with another favorite name- and this other one takes priority. haha.

[name]Juniper[/name] fits really well with [name]Priya[/name] IMHO. Also the nickname [name]Juno[/name]- [name]Juno[/name] and [name]Priya[/name] sound like two fairy goddess sisters. BUT if you don’t love it you should probably keep looking.
