So dh and I are still having trouble deciding on a name for our baby girl. The only two we’ve semi-agreed on are [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Laila[/name_f] - both of which are ok, but neither of us really love. He seems to like classic (but common?) names, like [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Maria[/name_f], and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], none of which I’m overly fond of for personal reasons. I like classic names, but prefer ones that are a little less common - if he didn’t have a preference on her name, I’d probably pick [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] to be honest!
The only other name we both kind of like is [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], however my cousin named his dd this so it’s out for us, unfortunately.
Any suggestions are so appreciated! I feel like we’ve looked at and bounced around so many names lately and haven’t made any progress - and I have no patience and would love for her to have a name already.
Our last name is Matic, if that’s helpful. Thank you all so much in advance!
Other ideas that possibly hit the sweet spot of classic but not popular.
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] / [name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] - similar in sound and cadence to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]?
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] / [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] was the first name that came to mind for you-- it’s similar to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], but less common, works great with your last name, and has the L-sound you seem to like.
[name_f]Laila[/name_f] is lovely! If it is close to “the one” maybe you would like [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] (li-NAY-ah) or [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] reminds me of [name_f]Luisa[/name_f] which you may like.
Since you guys seem to like the L and E combo, what about [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]?
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Samara[/name_f] (yes, the girl from the [name_m]Ring[/name_m]- but I knew a little girl with this name and it was super cute on her. [name_u]Sam[/name_u] and [name_f]Mara[/name_f] are nice nickname options).
[name_f]Leda[/name_f]/[name_f]Leta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] or [name_m]Larka[/name_m] or Laerke (this is a Danish word for [name_f]Lark[/name_f], pronounced “LAIR-ka” that’s quite popular in Denmark for girls)
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Meryl[/name_f]
[name_f]Haidee[/name_f] (this sounds made-up, but was actually used for a character in an famous poem by [name_m]Lord[/name_m] [name_m]Byron[/name_m])
[name_f]Amoret[/name_f] (character in The Faerie Queene by [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Spenser[/name_u])
