What would you name a sister to [name_u]Toby[/name_u] and [name_f]Athena[/name_f]?
We aren’t really planning on a third baby (certainly not for a while with [name_f]Athena[/name_f] just being born) but I love thinking and talking about names! So I can’t help but speculate as to what we’d name a third. If it was a boy he’d most likely be [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], but I’m completely stumped for a girl!
I love that you chose [name_f]Athena[/name_f]! Gorgeous choice.
From your signature I think these would all work and are beautiful with your children’s names:
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] (maintains a goddess theme, if you want that theme)
[name_f]Kiara[/name_f] (stylistically matches really well in my opinion, without being “matchy,” and a really pretty name in general)
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] (give sisters a mythology theme)
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] (also maintains a goddess theme but more subtle)
[name_f]Thalia[/name_f] (keeps the Greek mythology theme going)
[name_f]Valencia[/name_f] (sounds beautiful and equally strong next to [name_f]Athena[/name_f])
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] (a little softer but sounds nice together I think)
@columbiacharm Thank you so much, and what a gorgeous list of names!!
My favourites are [name_f]Callista[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and [name_f]Talitha[/name_f].
But hubby isn’t so keen on [name_f]Callista[/name_f] and [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] though unfortunately. And I love [name_f]Freya[/name_f] but my parents have a dog called that, and while I’m not opposed to using a name that has already been used for a pet, I think it’s strange if the pet is still around and one that we see all the time!
I really like the idea of [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Lola[/name_f], but hubby has a sister called [name_f]Laura[/name_f], do you think that’s too close?
I didn’t know [name_u]Toby[/name_u] had Greek origins! I do quite like the idea of keeping that theme
From your list I really like [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Petra[/name_f] ([name_f]Athena[/name_f] came quite close to being called [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], and if [name_u]Toby[/name_u] had been a girl we were seriously considering [name_f]Petra[/name_f]!)
Thank you! I can’t imagine her being anything else now!
I do really like [name_f]Freya[/name_f], but as mentioned above it’s the name of my parent’s dog who we see quite regularly, it also seems to be getting quite popular!
I also love [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and [name_f]Maya[/name_f]/[name_f]Maia[/name_f] but they’re both a bit too popular here in NZ for me to use as a first name (although with our last name being [name_m]Birch[/name_m] I couldn’t use [name_f]Willow[/name_f] as a first name anyway!)
[name_f]Kiara[/name_f], [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] are wonderful ideas! I actually absolutely [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] (it’s a name I just can’t get enough of saying) but worry about the reception of it a bit
I hadn’t ever thought about [name_f]Irene[/name_f] before, would you pronounce it eye-reen or eye-ree-nee? I feel like most people would pronounce it eye-reen but I much prefer eye-ree-nee
I think that (from your signature) [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] & [name_f]Willow[/name_f] are all gorgeous names that would all work beautifully with [name_f]Athena[/name_f] & [name_u]Toby[/name_u] (& [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]).
