Sullivan- Doomed to be too trendy or popular?

I’ve asked something similar recently. Our families have rained on the parade of the names we had been discussing, but loved [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] when I had originally mentioned it. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband didn’t really like it initially, and I started to feel like it would be too trendy.
Now I’m starting to reconsider it. But something about it just looks trendy to me. Does it come across that way to anyone else? What impression does the name give you for a little boy/ grown man? Suggestions on other names?

Names my husband and was considering:
[name_m]Fletcher[/name_m]
[name_m]Webster[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]

His ranking changes every time you ask him, and he won’t suggest anything else. Our last name ends in -er, so our family doesn’t love [name_m]Webster[/name_m] or [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] with our surname. Which I get is a lot.

Its most popular year was last year so it’s possible it might continue the upward trend but it’s hard to know, it’s been pretty solidly in the 300/400 range for the last few years. Hard to know.

Out of curiosity, I plotted the popularity of [name_m]Warren[/name_m] and [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] on Behind the Name based on number of times used and they came out with rather similar recent trajectories. Obviously, [name_m]Warren[/name_m] has a longer history of usage, but they are currently trending about the same in the US.

[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] strikes me as a grounded, surname-y choice with very on-trend sounds (that v!), but I wouldn’t consider the name itself particularly trendy. I like it! However, it sounds like maybe it’s more your family’s pick than yours. I wouldn’t let them sway you too much (I recognize it’s easier said than done) – it’s your baby and you have a great list of options already!

[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] was mentioned A LOT on name forums when I was pregnant with my first, 6 years ago. I don’t see it as much now.
But I think in terms of recent use, it might have a little surge but is unlikely to make top 100. I think it will stay rare enough not to sound really trendy.

I had a nurse tell me her new baby grandson was a [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], last year, and my first thought was that it was a bit of a trendy name (despite not having met any others). But take with a pinch of salt depending on where you are, because I’m in the U.K. where surname-names aren’t quite as much of a thing as the US.

I feel like the surnamey vibes make it feel more solid and established, classy and cool.
