I like the sounds in it, and I think it could make for an interesting, more masculine version of [name]Summer[/name]. What do you think of [name]Sumner[/name] as a first name for a boy?
For some reason, it reminds me of [name]Fort[/name] Sumter… as in, where the Civil War battle took place. I like it, but I think it’d get confused with [name]Summer[/name] a lot. I think as a MN, though, it has definite potential! I actually really like it, the more I think of it.
I agree that it would probably get confused for [name]Summer[/name] a lot of the time. I think it could be a nice MN!
That’s funny, [name]Fort[/name] Sumter was my first thought as well!
That aside, I like [name]Sumner[/name]. Like the others said, it will probably be confused with [name]Summer[/name] a lot, but it’s very handsome!
There was a [name]Charles[/name] [name]Sumner[/name] who was attacked during a particularly vicious debate on the Senate floor in the run-up to the American Civil War. That gives the name a clean, surnamey nineteenth-century feeling – and it may be related to the Civil War connection people seem to be making. Strange historical antecedents aside, I think it’s strong and wearable, and I don’t think confusion with [name]Summer[/name] would be too much of a problem.
I think of [name]Gordon[/name] [name]Sumner[/name] (Sting).
I actually like it more than I thought I would too. I think it sounds strong and historical. I do see that there might be some confusion with [name]Summer[/name] though, especially if you just glance at it written down.
When I saw the title of this post, I thought it was a typo. I like the name better as a middle. It is definitely a nice one though
