Sundance?

Lately I’ve been drawn toward this hippie-ish name as a middle option for a favorite of mine, [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. What do you think of [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Sundance[/name_f]? Is it too out there? Or would it be OK in this new age of bright, unique middles? Any other firsts you can think of to go with middle name [name_f]Sundance[/name_f]?

I automatically associate [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] with the film festival, which isn’t a bad thing but kind of creates a situation where people might think you’re a huge fan. If not for that, I’d say go for it, but because of that I really hesitate.

What about another sun-oriented name?

[name_f]Sunshine[/name_f]
[name_f]Soleil[/name_f] / [name_m]Sol[/name_m] / [name_f]Sun[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] – this name evokes sunshine for me, though it’s not necessary hippy-ish.
[name_f]Lux[/name_f] – means “light”
[name_f]Lumina[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]

Exactly what I wanted to say. If it doesn’t bother you, go for it!

Personally, I think I’d use it only as a middle. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] is lovely.

I like it  It’s Verrrry hippie though. This is coming from a hippy

Jedodiah [name_f]Sundance[/name_f]
Zoelee [name_f]Sundance[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Sundance[/name_f]

The middle spot is the perfect place to go a little wilder so I think [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] is fine. It is hippyish and quirky but hey, that’s ok because we don’t use our mn’s too often in real life anyway.

I think [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] would make a great middle especially with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]'s meaning

Be prepared to explain it to your child someday.

I don’t really mind the [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] Film Festival association, actually I think of it as a plus!

aym- my favorite out of your options is [name_f]Lux[/name_f], but [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f] just doesn’t sound as good to me as [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Sundance[/name_f]. Thank you, though!

alexa400- I love [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]'s meaning, that’s one of my favorite parts about it!

I agree with this. Use it.

for a lovely bird.

[name_f]Sundance[/name_f], well, to me it is a catalog and a film festival and not even a favorite word, but it’s really only your business.

I almost can’t help but finish [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] with “Film Festival”, but I’m very much an “anything goes in the middle spot” sort of person, and I do get [name_f]Sundance[/name_f]'s appeal. I don’t hate it in the middle. And I love [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]!

[name_f]Sundance[/name_f] also makes me think of the channel, which I like, and of the outlaw the [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] Kid and the [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Redford[/name_m]/[name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_m]Newman[/name_m] movie [name_m]Butch[/name_m] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] and the [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] Kid.

I think I like Sunset more than [name_f]Sundance[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], though I don’t know if it flows well with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and it is less evocative than [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] or Sunset.

As Aym said : I associate [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] with the Film Festival. If that doesn’t bother you (or if it makes you like it more) than use it. Otherwise, I think its kind of odd and may raise some eyebrows.

I much prefer [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] to [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Sundance[/name_f].

Some other options…[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Sundance[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Sundance[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Sundance[/name_f], [name_f]Alegria[/name_f] [name_f]Sundance[/name_f], [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Sundance[/name_f]. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] makes me think of Puritans (I spend too much time on genealogy), but I can see the charm. I do like [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] in the middle spot.

[name_f]Sundance[/name_f] is all boy to me. However, [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] is cute

[name_f]Sundance[/name_f] is one of my guilty pleasures, expect for a boy because of [name_m]Butch[/name_m] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] and the [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] Kid. I hadn’t really thought of it for a girl, but it does work, especially in the middle. I’m not sure I like it with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] though, I feel like it needs to be pair with something more understated and gentle.

I have no complaints about [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] in the middle, but I do feel that it’s a bit redundant with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].

I am really going to be showing my age on this one, but here goes! I am a child of the 80s, and back then, [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] was a very popular [name_f]My[/name_f] [name_m]Little[/name_m] Pony. (I still have two Sundances in a box somewhere.) [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] was packaged with [name_f]Megan[/name_f], the human friend who helped the ponies. (Google [name_f]Sundance[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f], and [name_f]My[/name_f] [name_m]Little[/name_m] Pony to find photos!)

I personally feel the associations with both the film festival and the [name_f]My[/name_f] [name_m]Little[/name_m] Pony are too strong.

(I am not certain on this, but I am quite sure there is a Native American religious ceremony that takes place every summer called [name_f]Sundance[/name_f].)

I like the hip, confident, earthy direction you are going in … But I would avoid [name_f]Sundance[/name_f].

Other Berries posted some lovely options. Here are some more.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite: [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]

Here are the runners-up:

1.) [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] (If, for example your child had indigo eyes.)

2.) [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u]

3.) [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_u]Lyric[/name_u]

4.) [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]

5.) [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f]

6.) [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f]

7.) [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f]

8.) [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]

9.) [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f]

10.) [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]

I’m surprised that Nameberry has [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] listed as a female name since pro beach volleyball player [name_f]Kerri[/name_f] [name_m]Walsh[/name_m] [name_m]Jennings[/name_m] has a son named [name_f]Sundance[/name_f].

[name_f]My[/name_f] first association with the name is [name_m]Butch[/name_m] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] and the [name_f]Sundance[/name_f] Kid, which makes it an extremely masculine name to me. It has the nicknames [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], [name_m]Dan[/name_m], and [name_u]Danny[/name_u], all of which are masculine to me. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I don’t really care for it as a name, I prefer it on a boy than a girl.
