Super regular, not ttc, so why has it been 5 days and still no period? Help please!

Hello lovely berries,

Those who have read my posts know that I am a married gal who is patiently (and many days impatiently) waiting to TTC - planning on next year and enjoying name investigation and momberry advice. But now I haven’t gotten my period and I would love any woman to woman advice.

I am living long distance from my hubby and haven’t seen him in almost 4 months. I have gained some weight but it seems like just eating too much weight (since I moved bc of my job, I have eaten a lot, more so I’m not surprised to have gained like 10 pounds.) I now weigh 124 pounds so I thought that a few extra wouldn’t hurt so I havent been watching it.

Well, I’ve been looking forward to my period this month, only because afterwards I can take birth control before I go see my husband. But no sign of it! I have a super regular 27 day cycle and now I’ve passed it by 4-5 days, gotten the normal pms and I keep thinking it’s going to happen but it hasn’t. I haven’t taken any birth control in almost a year (we used condoms and the pull-out method (but mostly condoms) before I came here, so it seems WAY too unlikely that I’m pregnant… So what’s going on with me? Even if I get my period right now, I’m still wondering… Why? My job is great, not too stressful or anything. Is it the nervousness/excitement of looking forward to seeing my husband again? I am seeing him in a week and now it’s too late to take the birth control since I haven’t gotten my period yet. The one time I want it! Gotta love irony.

Has anything like this happened to berries who have very regular cycles? Any advice for me? Health articles? Etc? I’m annoyed/worried/foolishly hopeful/anxious/etc… Help Please!

Hopefully as soon as I am done posting I will go and find out that I have gotten it and then I can stop being stressed, but until then, I would appreciate your advice. I always do! So thank you!

If you’ve had sex there’s always the possibility, but who knows? Take a test, just for kicks! Because even if it shows up in a couple days, you’ll at least know that much earlier, you know?

I wish you the best of luck! Of course, it’d be a wonderful to be pregnant. But it would be a blessing for the baby to wait until your ready

I haven’t had sex in almost 4 months (don’t you think a skinny gal like me would be showing a lot by now?) and have had regular periods…until now

I’ve just always heard of those people who are pregnant but don’t know it and that weirded me out.

If I don’t get it by tomorrow I might just go and buy the test just for laughs… And sighs of relief… And then feeling bad again from my baby fever. Fun fun stuff.

Thanks for your response, caracakes, I know you know how I feel since you’re also waiting. That’s why it’s all the more emotional for me right now. Like I would love to be preggo… But I think my imagination is running with me a little far this time.

Either way, I wish I knew what was going on with me!

Mmm, yeah a smaller person would probably definitely be showing by now! I know what you mean though! I watched some of those freak pregnancy shows where the girls have like no symptoms and have enough spotting to think its a period and all :open_mouth:

It can’t hurt to take one! Being about a week late is definitely late enough for ANY pregnancy test to confirm it, so you could always go to a dollar store and get one of the cheap tests just to relax yourself  But I know how much it hurts when you test and it becomes negative <3 I have a few tests that I keep hidden in my room for the days when I happen to be really late, tbh.

I definitely know the feeling! :frowning: Have you ever read up about “phantom pregnancies”? I haven’t read much honestly, but a lady was telling me about them! Its when you hope and wish your pregnant so much that your body starts showing pregnancy symptoms. Like you’ll get fatigued or your period will delay / miss from the stress of wanting and sometimes you feel nauseated and everything. Maybe your having that sort of thing? Its amazing how our bodies work, in the same way that if you really truly think your coming down with a cold that your body will show symptoms!

Even though I know its best to wait, I would be absolutely thrilled to hear I’m pregnant any day. But, even though you know its for the best that you aren’t, it still really hurts </3

I hope you figure out whats going on soon!!! I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts!!

Thanks caracakes! I actually thought that too, about the phantom thing, but I was just getting used to the idea of waiting so I didn’t think that was going on (plus I don’t have any symptoms of pregnancy, just horrible forgetfulness like my mind will be who knows where, more than normal). I was talking to a good friend today and I vented all of my family problems (there are a lot of issues going on back home) and said that it could be enough to stress me out - I figured that since my life is going so well and I’m not that stressed, it wasn’t enough to mess up my cycle, but maybe it is. She also said that the family worries plus anticipating seeing my husband again, plus yes, wishing I was pregnant, could be enough to mess up my cycle if in every other way I am perfectly healthy, get enough sleep, eat well, etc.

The advice from my friend helped me to relax about my family, and also I started to get even stronger pms symptoms today, hopefully I’ll get this sucker any minute. But I think I’ll still take a test just for “practice” maybe that will be enough to calm me down too.

Thanks caracakes for your kind and understanding response. Best of luck to you in your waiting too.

I just got my period! Yay! (This is the one time I’m going to be happy about it! Haha) Thanks for those who read my ventings and to caracakes for responding.

That happened to me last month, was 5 days late. My period came a few mins after I took a test. Stupid bodies haha.

Ahh haha thanks for sharing that with me [name]Tina[/name]! I know you’ve got a lot on your mind too because now you will finally be TTC! You must be so excited, but try to relax, now that we know what stress and excitement do to our bodies haha. Best of luck!

Yay! [name]Glad[/name] it decided to come!

Hmm, strange! I get scatterbrained, but I tend to be regularly so I don’t find it strange anymore, hehe. I know the feeling of issues at home, I’ve got lots going on myself! I suppose it could be enough to mess up your cycle. But if this entire time you didn’t notice you were feeling stressed, it sounds unlikely. That is a lot of things to be going on, in all fairness though! Sometimes our bodies just throw a curveball into our lives for reasons we don’t know. So maybe it was just doing its thing

I bet relaxing probably helped it come along, especially if it was the stress effecting things!

No problem, amenspanglish! I’m glad to help! And thank you! So far some of the time has started flying by-- [name]April[/name] is over already!! <3

Thanks! And you’re welcome. Who know why it decided to be wacko… But glad that it finally smoothed out!
