So I am planning on changing my last name for a lot of reasons, and I would love some thoughts, ideas and suggestions!
My name is [name_f]Amber[/name_f] [name_f]Renee[/name_f] and I would like my surname to sound good with it.
My current last name is Cling without the C, it sounds very [name_f]Asian[/name_f] and because I am white I get a lot of insensitive remarks so I would like my new name to make sense with my race.
It gets mistaken for [name_m]Long[/name_m], Lang, [name_f]Lynne[/name_f], and [name_m]Ring[/name_m] all the time, part of that is I have a little bit of a southern twang so I’d like my new name to be very easy to understand, spell and pronounce.
This is also about becoming my own person so I am looking for something that relates to who I am. I asked my loved ones for some words that make them think of me and here is what they came up with:

I really like the idea of [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] and Poppins. I am not sure if I like the way the M sounds run into each other though and I’m sure I would get a lot of “like… [name_f]Mary[/name_f] Poppins?” Comments
Seconding the suggestions of [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] and [name_u]Murphy[/name_u]—I think they both sound great with [name_f]Amber[/name_f]. I share your reservations about Poppins, though it’s a fun idea. Maybe Poplin, like the fabric?

Would you consider taking a look into your family tree? Maybe you have an ancestor with a name that speaks to you.
That is a very interesting idea but the main reason why I am doing this is to distance myself from my biological family and give myself my own family name.
