Surname incompatibility

Alright I wasn’t planning to ever share my surname on here, but I’m having a hard time finding names that flow with it. I hadn’t thought about it before, because the son I already has name flows naturally with it, but I realized a lot of names don’t sound the best with our surname, [name_u]Sutton[/name_u]. I figured with such a simple common surname everything would sound good, but I’m finding a lot of names don’t sound right with it for me. Like almost any name ending in N, Starting or ending with S. Which for the next boy’s name feels really limiting.

The list of names my partner and I even slightly like that works with it in our opinion:

  • [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] (Finn/Nick)
  • [name_u]Credence[/name_u] (Creed)
  • [name_m]Leif[/name_m]
  • [name_u]Niall[/name_u]
  • [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m]
  • [name_m]Bishop[/name_m]
  • [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
  • [name_m]Evander[/name_m] (Evan/Van/Vander)
  • [name_u]Leland[/name_u]
  • [name_u]Oleander[/name_u] (Ollie)
  • [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] (Bram/Abe)

Our favorites of the list: [name_m]Abraham[/name_m], [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Bishop[/name_m], [name_m]Leif[/name_m], [name_u]Credence[/name_u], and [name_m]Finnick[/name_m].
I’m hesitant on any name starting with A or ending in R too because of the similarity to our first son’s name which limits the options even more.

I’m just not confident with any options we have rn, my partner loves [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] but the A makes be hesitant, I like [name_m]Bishop[/name_m] and [name_u]Credence[/name_u] the most but Idk if [name_m]Bishop[/name_m] [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] gives too like edgy religious vibes and [name_u]Credence[/name_u] has a cool nn of [name_m]Creed[/name_m] but the full name might be bullying territory? Any additional ideas for us to consider?

[name_u]Credence[/name_u] is cool - I like how it sounds!! [name_m]Evander[/name_m] is excellent too and distinct enough that I don’t think it sounds too similar with A’s name (especially with the extra syllable). [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] is charming and snappy too!!

Some other ideas:

[name_m]Casper[/name_m]
[name_u]Carlyle[/name_u]
[name_m]Oslo[/name_m]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]
[name_u]Beckett[/name_u]
[name_m]Ralph[/name_m]
[name_m]Cassius[/name_m]
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m]
[name_u]Callum[/name_u]
[name_m]Conrad[/name_m]

Have you thought about [name_m]Bram[/name_m] on it’s own?

A lot of these are taken by friends, family, or were shot down by my fiance when I suggested them. The fact we have very different name tastes and the more popular sounds in names don’t flow the best limiting our options makes it feel impossible to name another boy lol

I know you said you like [name_u]Credence[/name_u], [name_m]Evander[/name_m], and [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] but what do you think about [name_m]Bishop[/name_m]? IDK I think it sounds the best with our last name and I associate it with the TV show Fringe more than the religious position, and Idk about nicknames like other than B, the only directly related options are Bish/Bishi which isn’t great. But I guess [name_m]Shep[/name_m] wouldn’t be a huge stretch.

[name_f]My[/name_f] fiance doesn’t like it, he tends to want the original versions of the name rather than derivatives.
