Surname is eleventh month!

I posted last year about a name for our third child but unfortunately we had a miscarriage. I’m pregnant again and we are expecting a healthy baby girl in [name_f]April[/name_f]! I so very much appreciated everyone’s feedback last time and would love to hear what you think of our new favorites. Our first two are [name_u]Henry[/name_u] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I love timeless names that aren’t likely to be tied to a specific generation. Because our last name is the name of a month, we both like the idea of names that are familiar and clearly first names, not surnames or word names. We’ve fallen in love with two names in particular, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_u]Louise[/name_u]. We love that [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is timeless, not overly used, and has an understated elegance. We love [name_u]Louise[/name_u] because it is classic but also has adorable nicknames like [name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_u]Lou[/name_u] [name_u]Lou[/name_u], and [name_u]Louie[/name_u].

Which is your favorite? [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_u]Louise[/name_u]?

What middle name sounds best? Some ideas we’ve had:

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

@lucy_halo1 if the original poster didn’t say the surname, it’s probably for privacy reasons. @Namenerd87 has the final say, but i think she would appreciate if you did not mention the last name for now

sorry I wasn’t thinking, I will take it down

I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is probably the best option here! [name_f]Alice[/name_f] balances the sibset better than [name_u]Louise[/name_u] IMO.

Both [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_u]Louise[/name_u] are sleek and sweet but also strong and solid. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] feels slightly brighter and breezier; [name_u]Louise[/name_u] feels more steady and classic. I don’t think you can go wrong but the lovely [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is my personal favourite

Of your middles, I like:

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] → sweet but elegant, soft in sound, but strong in vibe

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Whitney[/name_u] → this sounds fun and zippy!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] → magical with a hint of flair

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] → this has elegance and power

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] → unexpected and zippy

[name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] → charming and regal

[name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] → pretty cosy and sleek - plus these would give nn Luelle, [name_u]Lennie[/name_u] and [name_f]Luella[/name_f] too!

[name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] → simple and sweet!

I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] sounds nicer with your surname and with her siblings. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is my favorite.

I love [name_u]Louise[/name_u]. I adore all the nickname possibilities. I like a hard consonant after [name_u]Louise[/name_u].

[name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are my favorites from your list. Other suggestions:

[name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_u]Colby[/name_u]
[name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_f]Danielle[/name_f]
[name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]

I am sorry to learn of your miscarriage and wishing you a safe delivery in [name_f]April[/name_f].
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] popped into my mind right away and before I finished reading your full post so my vote goes to [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I think it’s perfect and all your choices are lovely but [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] allows you to use both your favourites! [name_f]Alice[/name_f] (last name) would be a memorable name in a good way.

I am very sorry to hear of your miscarriage and am wishing you all the very best for your pregnancy.

A lot of your name combos are beautiful. I would personally go for [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]. They are all gorgeous and timeless. If pushed, I would choose [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Leonor[/name_f].

I like [name_u]Louise[/name_u], but I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f]

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is a little trippy, but I like that you’d be able to use your two favourite names. So that gets my vote (although I do love lots of your middle options, like [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] …)

You haven’t mentioned [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and Henry’s middle names, but if they have family middles, it might be nice to consider one for your new little girl. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Whitney[/name_u] is fun, and [name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] is wonderfully retro.

Congrats, both would be so pretty for your daughter. What about [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]?

Big congrats, and after what I imagine was been a sad and difficult time.

I love your two kids’ names. As for the two you’re thinking, my name-nerdy little heart can’t warm to [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I can see it perfectly fitting with the other two and it marginally flows better to last name - but I just don’t like saying the name (have three Alice’s in my life) and it always feels a bit cold and stand-offish but not in that charming, poncy way. I don’t like looking at it with “lice” in there, and I don’t love [name_f]Ally[/name_f] or [name_f]Lissy[/name_f]. If going in that direction, I much prefer [name_f]Elise[/name_f] - and you could even combine your two loves and go with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] (with [name_f]Ella[/name_f], Elo, Lu-Lu, [name_f]Lois[/name_f] etc, not an [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] fan!).

I would otherwise go for [name_u]Louise[/name_u] - it’s ready for another moment! I like [name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] the best with your last name (and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is so romantic and pretty).

Re middles, if you’re name-retentive like me, would take [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] off list in either spot (or definitely first if they’re possibly being promoted) as don’t think flow well to the N of your last name as others on list. The last two with NOR makes me nananana a little.

On that note, honour/family name more important than perfect flow so [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] an N ending name should stay on list - and [name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] is lovely. (Also, I love [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] generally so maybe don’t take off, just query.)

If you’re still open to suggestions, how about (in addition to [name_f]Elise[/name_f] or Eloise):

[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] (I love Ingrid!)
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Camille[/name_u] (not Camilla)
[name_f]Therese[/name_f] (Te-raise) [name_u]Whitney[/name_u] - [name_f]Tess[/name_f] as a nn with your last name would be epic!

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!
