Surnames to use as first names..2nd girl!

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I have one 3 year old DD named Karrigan [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] [name_m]Moore[/name_m]. We really love the formal sounding tones of surnames as first names - because they can always be shortened or sweetened for those little tot years and then lengthened again in a professional setting. (I know not everyone agrees with this thought etc. but it is our opinion).

We are expecting girl number 2 in 6 weeks and are STILL nameless so I thought I would ask here for any suggestions or input. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know of any typical (or not so typical) surnames or perhaps longer formal sounding girl names that might go well with a sister named Karrigan? I’m pretty open to suggestion!

I love surnames as firsts! Here are some of my favorites:

There are a lot of good suggestions here, I’d just recommend you keep the sounds pretty distinct. I’d avoid another N ending altogether if you can, although if you do, avoiding -gan is a good step: Karrigan and [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is too much to my ears, although [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is a great name. Likewise if it ends in N avoiding a similar start: [name_m]Callahan[/name_m] and Karrigan is too much to me. I might recommend avoiding a C/K beginning altogether, but especially with that ending.

I think these were both suggested, but in this category I really like [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] and [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], I think those both sound great with Karrigan while quite distinct. [name_f]Greer[/name_f] also comes to mind.

[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] or [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] for a boy, [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] or [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] for a girl. [name_m]Charleston[/name_m], [name_m]Brigham[/name_m], [name_m]Remington[/name_m]. [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] your first child’s name, didn’t catch boy or girl.

Thanks! I think that is why this name is so hard because I love the name we chose for number 1 …We Did Karrigan [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] as a Girl’s name but I do know variations have been used for both boys and girls.

I agree with you on the thought process. The name we had liked up until recently was [name_u]Sinclaire[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but now having so many doubts we are back to the drawing board
