Survey for Berries with "dated" names

Since there seems to be mixed reactions on what it’s like to have a name dated to your parents’ or grandparents’ generation, I thought I’d launch a survey to ask those Nameberry members who have such names to share their thoughts (remember I’m talking about names that are dated to an era prior to your own, not those with generation-typical names that are now dated for babies).

  1. What is your name (don’t mention your last name of course) and approximate age/year of birth?
  2. [name]How[/name] do you feel about your name personally (like/dislike/indifferent/etc.)? Has your opinion changed over time?
  3. Have you experienced any unusual reactions from others (with it being rarer for your age group)?
  4. If you wish to share, what was the meaning behind your name (was it something your parents just liked or were you named in honor of someone)?
  1. [name]Mary[/name] 1992
  2. I have always liked my name, but now I love it. Though it was the number one name for years, I find my name to be uncommon. I only met one other [name]Mary[/name] my age.
  3. Sometimes I get, “You don’t look like a [name]Mary[/name]”… but other than that, no.
  4. I was suppose to be either an [name]Erin[/name] or [name]Colleen[/name]. Two names that my mom love. No offence to Erins and Colleens, but I personally dislike those two names. At the end of her pregnancy, my mom got very sentimental and named me [name]Mary[/name] after my nana. My dad had no say with my name because he named my brother.
