Susannah Caroline is it too much?

So I’m still trying to sort out our top girl name if this bub is a girl and seeing as [name_f]MIL[/name_f]'s middle name is [name_f]Sue[/name_f] and my mom’s first name is [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] I was drawn to this combo. I really like [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], but is it too much with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] given we have a difficult 3 syllable last name? Also what would be some nicknames since I don’t particularly like [name_f]Sue[/name_f] or [name_f]Suzie[/name_f]? Would [name_f]Annie[/name_f] be usable nickname?

Having the same issue-only with [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] istead of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]! I too wonder if the 3 syllable last name makes it too much but they are such cute names!

[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is perfect and beautiful name. It’s not too much with a long last name.

[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] are substantial, classic names, no frills. Names are sometimes considered too much if they are overly frilly and feminissima. But, then again, sometimes frilly names are beautiful.

Classic: [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
Frills galore: [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f]

Classic: [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
Frills galore: [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] [name_f]Celestine[/name_f]

Classic: [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
Frills galore: [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f]

Classic: [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
Frills galore: [name_f]Audriana[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]

[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is an adorable name, and it would age well.

Absolutely not too much. I think you have to take the “syllable rule” with a huge pinch of salt. My DH’s given name is 5 syllables long with a 3 syllable surname and 2 middle names, and it sounds great. [name_m]Uber[/name_m]-short, “choppy” combos can work just as well (think [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Bond[/name_m] or [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_m]Moss[/name_m]). It all depends on the names in question for me.

As @anyagreenwich very rightly said, [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] are both wonderful, substantial, classic names - yes, they’re long, but they’re not frilly or overblown in the least. And they flow really well together because they have a very similar feel but very different, complimentary sounds. I think it’s a really lovely combo.

As for nicknames, [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is definitely usable but my personal favourite nickname for [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]. The (only) [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] I know goes by Zanni, and there’s also [name_f]Sanne[/name_f]/[name_f]Sanna[/name_f], [name_f]Suki[/name_f] or [name_f]Sosie[/name_f].

I love it. It’s a bit long but it works.
Doesn’t sound awkward or anything. It’s a sweet, cheerful name.

I love it! Absolutely beautiful.
