Susannah Pearl/Corinne

[name]Hi[/name] all,

I’ve posted recently about my daughter, [name]Susannah[/name]. We’re trying to decide on a middle name to honor either my mother or grandmother, so let me explain.

[name]Pearl[/name] - This ones after my grandma. Her name is [name]Peggy[/name] which is a form of [name]Margaret[/name], as is [name]Pearl[/name]. In terms of flow, I think [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] goes better than [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]. I was very close to my grandmother growing up and the symbolism of the pearl is very important to me.

[name]Corinne[/name] - This ones after mom. My moms name is [name]Cori[/name] [name]Lynn[/name]. Her dad wanted her middle name to be [name]Lynn[/name] but they didn’t want to name her [name]Corinne[/name] [name]Lynn[/name]. Not to sound cliche, but my moms my best friend. We’re very close. She stayed with me for ten months in the hospital when I had cancer at 15 years old, was by side threw everything. I aspire to be just like my mom and I hope my daughter does too. The problem with [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]'s flow is it just sounds awkward, for one, and the double ‘N’s’ in the middle of the names bother me. Are there any ideas that would honor [name]Cori[/name] [name]Lynn[/name]?

Thank you so much for your help!

[name]Lynn[/name] is Welsh for [name]Lake[/name]. And [name]Cori[/name]/[name]Corinne[/name] is a from of [name]Cora[/name] and means maid.

So, what about…

For a form of [name]Cori[/name] :
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Cora[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Coralee[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corissa[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corabel[/name]

For a form of [name]Lynn[/name]:
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Linnet[/name] ([name]LIN[/name]-et)
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Lake[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Lynnette[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Linny[/name]

What about just [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Cori[/name]?

[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Lynn[/name] sounds perfect to me. Personally though, I think the flow of [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] is beautiful and fun to say aloud. Not into [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], as the flow just feels choppy and [name]Pearl[/name] seems a bit of a stretch to honor a [name]Peggy[/name]. I can see where you’re getting it from, but it just seems a bit too removed to me.

I’ll also add the ideas of:
[name]Susannah[/name] Rinn
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Rynn[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Rin[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] Ryn

I actually think the flow of [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] is nearly perfect. It would be my pick.

[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is simply perfect! Although I like [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] too.
As for [name]Cori[/name] [name]Lynn[/name]…
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Lynette[/name]?
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Coralie[/name] has the same meaning as [name]Corinne[/name] and makes for good flow.
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corine[/name] is another variation with the same meaning.

I vote for [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] or [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] - both are so elegant and sophisticated. The other options all sound choppy and less wonderful in my opinion. Congratulations!!

I do adore [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], but if I was in your shoes trying to honor my mother, I would rank the options in this order:

[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] - the Ns in each name do not bother me at all. (For one thing, there are multiple syllables separating them.) I like this combo VERY much

[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Lynn[/name] - the Ns still do not bother me at all. It’s a beautiful and meaningful choice to honor your mother.

[name]Susannah[/name] Corilynn - ditto

[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Cori[/name]

If your grandmother, [name]Peggy[/name], is your maternal grandmother, then using [name]Cori[/name] or [name]Corinne[/name] would be an indirect (but definite) way to honor her too without using her name. Instead, it would be using the name she hand-picked for your mother, which is a very personal thing. (If I have a granddaughter someday who names HER daughter [name]Rebecca[/name] (after my daughter whose name I chose), I would really love that. Of course, if [name]Peggy[/name] is your paternal grandmother than this idea does not apply.

To a slightly lesser degree, I also think that naming your daughter after your mother’s mother is an indirect way to honor your mother too. If my daughter named her daughter after my mother, I’d be thrilled about it.

I love the sound of [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] - I think it’s lovely!

[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] does have a nice flow in my opinion. The double n’s in both names would be bother me too, as I like how names look written down. I think, when it comes to honoring though, letting go of the little things like that are worth it. We’ve chosen [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] as the middle names for this baby if it is a boy. While I don’t love these names together as much as I do individually, due to the repeating short “ah” sound three times in a row, I’m overlooking it because I love the significance these two names have to us! So maybe you can think through whether the meaning of the name would overshadow the double n factor! I do like [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] too, so I think both names sound great and would be wonderful choices, with meaning! Good luck and congratulations!

Thank you SO much for the wonderful feedback, ladies! Seems like [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] is the popular vote. I really do love this name and the meaning overshadows any flaws I’ve made up for the name.

Thanks again.
