The name [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] has been hovering on the edge of my lists for years, but I’ve been slightly hesitant about it because I worry that it’s ‘dated’. What are your thoughts on [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]? Are there too many Sues and Susans around for it to come back yet? I just think it’s so beautiful, bright and happy! And the nn [name_f]Susie[/name_f] makes my heart sing.
Thoughts? The good, the bad and the ugly, please!
I love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], it’s such a pretty and happy name and I love the NN [name_f]Susie[/name_f] and [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]. It would be very refreshing to hear on a little girl. I don’t think it’s too old or dated sounding at all.
I think [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is gorgeous! It’s not on my list because we have a relative with the name.
I like the nn [name_f]Zanna[/name_f], Zanny or [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. I don’t consider it dated like I do with [name_f]Sue[/name_f].
It is a very pretty name. Honestly I think the [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] spelling does feel a little “old”, spelling it [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] makes it look a bit more modern in my eyes. Nn’s [name_f]Zanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] would sound more modern and spunky than [name_f]Sue[/name_f].
I usually dont like older names but [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is one of the exceptions. I think its very sweet and you could always use [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as a nickname if you dont want her getting mixed up with [name_f]Sue[/name_f]/[name_f]Susan[/name_f]/[name_f]Suzanne[/name_f]
Thanks so much for the feedback! I adore [name_f]Zanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] - gorgeous!
For some reason I actually think [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] looks more dated than [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] - not sure why!
I love it. I know 3 girls with this name. One would be about 14 or 15 now I’d guess, one is about 4 years old and the other is in her mid twenties.
The older one’s name is spelt ‘[name_f]Suzanna[/name_f]’ which I quite like. I think the ‘h’ on the end looks a little odd on this name, which is weird because there are other names where I feel the ‘h’ on the end is needed to make the name look complete.
Anyway, I really like this name. It’s a real name, that people will recognise, but it’s uncommon, so a little [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]/[name_f]Suzanna[/name_f] born now is not likely to be one of 5 girls in her class with the same name (unless it becomes super common, but I doubt it). I think it’s a very sweet, feminine name with lots of cute nickname options. A good choice!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Suki[/name_f]! I dont really like [name_f]Susie[/name_f]. It feels dated to me.
Although i prefer it spelled [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] due to [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connection but thats just me
I love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. I think it is such a beautiful, elegant name. I would love to meet a [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], and I would definitely consider using this as a first or middle one day (it is also a family name for me, usually with the [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] spelling).
I don’t think [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] could ever be considered dated - it doesn’t sound at all old to me, and I love the ‘h’ spelling. ([name_f]Susannah[/name_f] was on my list for a long time, and I’m thinking about putting it back on, so I might be slightly biased…) I also love the nicknames [name_f]Susie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. One of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]'s daughters was called [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], so you’d be in good company!
Personally i’m not keen on [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], sounds very 80s, same with [name_f]Susan[/name_f] and [name_f]Sue[/name_f]. Although i think variations of it sounds nice-as above- [name_f]Suki[/name_f], [name_f]Susie[/name_f].
Putting in my two cents in before I read any other replies.
Yes, yes, yes! [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]/[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] is ready for a comeback. I personally love the nickname [name_f]Sukey[/name_f], but [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f], [name_f]Sanna[/name_f], even [name_f]Suzy[/name_f]/[name_f]Susie[/name_f] are starting to sound fresh again.
Well, I think it is a lovely name but I am biased. What I love most is that it’s femine but not frilly. It works in different languages, and yes there are many nn options of which I find [name_f]Susie[/name_f] the least offending. I have always used the entire name, and never allowed others to shorten it.
Yes! [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is beautiful! I’d use it but I already have a [name_f]Suzy[/name_f] in the family. To me [name_f]Susan[/name_f] and [name_f]Sue[/name_f] sound dated but [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] sounds classic and underused.
I actually logged in today to add [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] to my top 4 list. I adore it, and I don’t find it dated. I love the idea of a little [name_f]Susie[/name_f].
I definitely think it’s ready for a comeback.
I think [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is definitely ripe for a comeback. I agree that [name_f]Sue[/name_f] and [name_f]Susan[/name_f] feel a bit dated now but [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] has a different feel.
I definitely think [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is ready for a comeback.
I love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], but I feel I can’t really use it or I would in a heartbeat have it on the short list. The numbers for [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] are holding fairly steady so there isn’t any indication of a revival yet but it does sound like a name that should be more popular than it is.
Absolutely! I love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. My mom’s name is [name_f]Susan[/name_f], so I love knowing I could honor her with [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] if I so chose. Her name is [name_f]Susan[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u], so I could honor her with either [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] :3
Seriously though. [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is my favorite [name_f]Sue[/name_f] name, and [name_f]Susie[/name_f] is adorable.
I love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. I think it has that vintage feel to it. I love all the cool nn options: [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], [name_f]Zanna[/name_f], [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] (and maybe [name_f]Susie[/name_f]). I also like [name_f]Susan[/name_f] and despite knowing its dated, it has a pretty sound. [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] has that pretty sound with a bit more fresh-ness.
