Swan inspired names

Hello. I am not new to nameberry I was an active member for a few years, but was really struggling with fertility and ttc out third. I decided, to remove myself from nameberry to concentrate on myself and love life a bit more and enjoy my boys.

Anyway, I have recently found out I am pregnant with my 3rd! I am beyond shocked and so happy. It is still early days and I make this post tentatively but nevertheless,

Two things really have stood out to me recently.

  1. I had some kind of prophetic dream that I was pregnant. A friend of mine ( who after 8 years has found out she is pregnant) was rubbing my belly and mouthing to me I am next. Low and behold…

  2. Secondly, outside my house opposite is a brook and for the first time, I saw a swan. I have never seen a swan in the brook where I live before and I can’t help feel it is some kind of sign or message. It really stood out to me and I think I would like to use a swan inspired name for a middle.
My son’s names are Zachary George and Alexander Theo

For a girl we are looking at Verity Odette but we also love Tabitha and Rosalie ( odette is a bonus as it’s a family name too) and for a boy I have no idea for firsts or middles :joy:

Very open to suggestions.
Thanks

White swans are [name_m]Cygnus[/name_m] swans

[name_u]Saint[/name_u] [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] of [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] was the patron saint of swans, and Svana is also a swan name

[name_m]Apollo[/name_m] rode on a swan :swan:

[name_f]Leda[/name_f], [name_u]Pen[/name_u] and [name_m]Cob[/name_m] are connected to swans as well

I’ll come back with inspo off of this!! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the idea

Your girl names are nice as well

:swan: names:

[name_m]Jacob[/name_m] (cobs are male swans)

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]

[name_u]Lincoln[/name_u]

[name_m]Apollo[/name_m]

[name_m]Crispen[/name_m]

[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]

[name_u]Penrose[/name_u]

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]

[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]

[name_f]Leda[/name_f]

[name_u]Penny[/name_u] (since pens are female swans )

[name_m]Elio[/name_m] (Apollo is related to helios)

[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] (see above)

Signus / [name_m]Cygnus[/name_m]

[name_u]Penn[/name_u], [name_u]Swan[/name_u], or [name_m]Cobb[/name_m] would be cute and very unique middles

I came to suggest Swanhilde and Ottilie / Odile as a first thought but here are some other ideas from my own thread, but if they are too bold for you, I think Odette, Esmée, Renée, Belle, Leda, Helen, even if a bit stretchy, can work!!

Wow, I love this story. Wishing you all the best :swan:

[name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is perfect! I’m also a big [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] fan and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is absolutely stunning too.

For a swan-related boy middle I like [name_m]Cygnus[/name_m] or [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] as previously mentioned.

It may not be your vibe but I also like the idea of just using [name_u]Swan[/name_u] in the middle!

Possibly also [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] for a boy? Means white and has a connection to the sea/water?

[name_m]Hugh[/name_m] is nice for a middle name and although I don’t mind [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] partner wouldn’t be on board at all. [name_f]My[/name_f] partner is really conservative in names :joy: we are going to clash. .

I love [name_f]Leda[/name_f] but what concerns me is the mythological back story and the r@pe side of it with [name_m]Zeus[/name_m] and [name_f]Leda[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] don’t know if it’s too negative?
As for [name_f]Odette[/name_f] whilst I doooo love this. [name_f]My[/name_f] surname starts with M. Which would make the initials V.O.M if we went with [name_f]Verity[/name_f]. And I am.in [name_u]England[/name_u] that is slang for vomit. :grimacing:

Another name we loved for a middle was [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. So same problem, maybe I can ignore it.
Also really liking
[name_f]Faith[/name_f] ( it has taken us 2 years to conceive our third) :face_holding_back_tears:
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] makes me think of gardens and Swans.
I also do love the idea of [name_u]Swan[/name_u]. [name_u]Baby[/name_u] is due in [name_u]January[/name_u]. So I think of snow etc.

Oh [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] makes me heart sing! But we actually have the name [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] for a first name idea for a boy. And [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is obviously way too rhyming.

Loooove [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]. And [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is a big contender for us yep.
I love [name_f]Bella[/name_f] but it is the name of a family dog.
The others are not my style but thank you for the suggestions

Here is a thought everyone. Is [name_f]Grace[/name_f] a good middle name which can be [name_u]Swan[/name_u] inspired? I mean that’s the first thing I think of when asked to describe a swan. [name_f]Graceful[/name_f]?

I think grace is a really strong association with swans, yes :white_heart:

This is so beautiful and heartwarming to read! :yellow_heart: I love [name_f]Odette[/name_f], one of the names I would use as a middle myself. :sunny: [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Odile[/name_f] are nice too, but villain name vibes because of the [name_u]Swan[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] ballet.
I was browsing a bit and fund some interesting ones:

Swanbjörn (b)
Svanholm (b)
[name_m]Cygnus[/name_m] (b)
Cygnet (g)
Svandis (g)
Svanfridur (g)
[name_f]Swanhilde[/name_f] (g)
Svanros (g)
Svanrun (g)
