This name doesn’t look particularly great spelled out, but when I say it to myself, it sounds rather pleasant. What does everyone else think? Nameberry seems very down on it.
The way I say it, it’s not good to my ear :/.
Sorry, I have to say totally hideous.
I like it. It sounds like the name of a fairy tale princess.
The swan part throws me off. Not at all attractive.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] this name!! It was on my list. Great choice
I like the idea of [name_f]Swanhild/name_f and the ballet connection, but it is quite clunky and would seem “weird” or made-up to those who don’t know that it’s a legitimate name with history. I like the idea of just [name_f]Swan[/name_f] as a name though, which is still out there but a lot simpler.
It’s probably got some great history, but it might be best left for the fairy tales haha
I really like it! It has a storybook vibe and sounds like it came out of a fairytale.
I can’t picture this on a real person. Sorry!
Not really a fan.
Tricky one. In theory I can see its fairy tale appeal. In practise, I would pity the baby called [name_f]Swanhilde[/name_f] in an English speaking country.
I quite like it, very fairytale
I have to say that [name_f]Swanhilde[/name_f] totally hideous.
While I always love when people are considering -hild(e) names, I have to say this (along with Borghild) is at the bottom of the list for me.
Sunilda is a lovely alternative that’s similar in sound but a little softer.
Others are [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f], [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], Alvilde/Alvilda, [name_f]Hilda[/name_f], Hild, Eirhild (Eirill), [name_f]Romilda[/name_f], Norhild, Roshild, Solhild, Vivil, Venil…
I wouldn’t say it’s hideous, but it’s definitely very unusual. I think it’s too out there to use on an actual person.
It would be a bold choice. If I heard of a friend choosing it for a daughter they would become a rock star in my eyes. I think it’s cool. I guess they may go by “[name_f]Swan[/name_f]”? I think I prefer if the ‘e’ is pronounced, so it would end up being “[name_f]Swanhilda[/name_f]” but I’m not sure if that’s actually correct.
Upon first glance, [name_f]Swanhild[/name_f] might look like swanchild. It’s definitely better with the 'e" at the end, but I’d recommend something similar like Brumhilde or Hildegunn.
do not like, sorry.
If this is a name you’re wanting for yourself, sure! But for your child, I would suggest no. Personally, I wouldn’t name anyone this.
