Swedish girl name - Ebba or Elsa?

Looking for a Swedish girl name and leaning towards [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] or [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]…

Middle name would be [name_u]Anne[/name_u]. Brother’s name is [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u].

Open to suggestions!

Thoughts? Thank you:)

I prefer [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], but have to agree with 12queen about Frozen.

What about [name_f]Else[/name_f]? It is from the same family as [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], without the obvious connection to Frozen. While [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] is pronounced el-sah, [name_f]Else[/name_f] is pronounced el-seh from my understanding. If you don’t mind the Frozen connection, [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] would be great.

If either name is too close to Frozen for you, [name_u]Ebbe[/name_u] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] would be amazing too.

I slightly prefer [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] - it just has a little more character and spunkiness imo.

My only reservation towards [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] is that B is mirror to v and m sounds. [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] is Swedish can be pronounced [name_f]Evva[/name_f] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f], as well as [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] and I never know how exactly it should be pronounced. Despite that, I think [name_f]Eva[/name_f]/Ava and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] sound more prettier than [name_f]Ebba[/name_f].

Ebba is gorgeous! I love how unexpected it is. [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] are a gorgeous pair !!

Ebba is beautiful!

Thanks everyone

I didn’t really think of [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] being even more Frozen-y than just [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], but that makes sense!

I would do ILSA.

[name_f]Ebba[/name_f] is beautiful and sounds really nice with [name_u]August[/name_u]!!

Here are some names but I love [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]!

Adela
[name_f]Adriana[/name_f]
[name_f]Agata[/name_f]
Agda
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
[name_f]Agneta[/name_f]
[name_f]Aina[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]

(didn’t realise they’re all a’s)

Thanks! I guess we could consider a different middle name too, but it’s a family name…:grimacing:

I love both [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]! [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] is a sparkling name and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] is just lovely.

I don’t think [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] sounds like it came from Frozen. So I don’t think you should have to change the middle name. [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is lovely, especially since it’s a family name for you.

I love [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. It’s a beautiful name! [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] is a nice name too, though I can hear it get misheard as [name_f]Emma[/name_f] a lot (if you live in an [name_f]English[/name_f]-speaking country). [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] seems more specifically Swedish to me, while [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] seems more broadly European, if that matters to you.

I actually prefer [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] as a first name. It sounds so sweet! I also think it goes well with [name_u]August[/name_u]. But paired with [name_u]Anne[/name_u] I have to say [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] is a better fit. So… I don’t know! I’d probably choose [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] since the first name is most important to me!

I prefer [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] but I would be hesitant of a Frozen association. [name_m]Even[/name_m] then [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] still has my vote.

I absolutely love [name_f]Ebba[/name_f]! Other similar short, Swedish that come to mind:

Edda
[name_f]Embla[/name_f]
[name_f]Edla[/name_f]
[name_f]Elma[/name_f]
[name_f]Hedda[/name_f]

I adore [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]!! And I totally disagree about [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] sounding too much like Frozen. I think it’s lovely and sounds great with [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u].

Thanks everyone for your help!
