[name_f]Amazing[/name_f] reply thanks so much.

Good point about people only knowing how it’s spelt if it’s written down. Makes me feel like if we chose it we may as well keep to the normal spelling [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] ( so long as my husband is ok with that lol, I think he can’t give me a 100 percent answer until we are looking at baby)

For the rankings that does make me feel better about [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] in aus. We do spend half the year in [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]Zealand[/name_m] too, and it is ranked #35[name_f][/name_f] there….. I guess because NZ is smaller? What’s your thoughts about that ranking???
[name_f][/name_f]
Some people have said [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] is too similar to [name_m]Kasper[/name_m] especially since we want a third.
[name_f][/name_f]
Seeems like picking the perfect name is much more difficult second time around

Thank you! I had [name_f]Luna[/name_f] in mind for a middle- [name_f]Sylvi[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f]?
[name_f][/name_f]
I like [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] too
Sorry [name_f][/name_f]- I thought I mentioned we spend time in NZ and it is #35[name_f][/name_f] there

Ah, okay! Sorry! You probably did and that’s just me getting confused
So, I looked it up - Kaia is in the NZ Top 40 and was give to 85 babies. 58,341 babies were born in NZ last year, meaning 0.14% of them were called Kaia. If you compare that with the most popular girls name (Isla) and boys name (Noah), which were used 190 and 250 times each - and given to 0.32% and 0.42% of babies born - Kaia is definitely familiar and yes, you might meet another, but its not going to be every other baby
I don’t know if that weird ramble of stats or maths helps in any way - either way, Sylvi is definitely the rarer option

I adore [name_f]Sylvi[/name_f], and I love the connection to heritage as well. I personally am obsessed with [name_f]Svea[/name_f], which is also Scandi and has a similar sound. But [name_f]Sylvi[/name_f] is such a gorgeous name and has such a great meaning. [name_m]Kasper[/name_m] and [name_f]Sylvi[/name_f] also balance each other really well, while [name_m]Kasper[/name_m] and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] feel a bit more matchy to me. I don’t mind matchy sibling names, but if that’s a plus or minus for you it might help you decide.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] is also beautiful, and I work with a little [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] who’s hilarious and very strong willed so I have good associations with the name.

Potential middles for [name_f]Sylvi[/name_f] (Kasper [name_f]Snow[/name_f] is

[name_f][/name_f], btw):
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvi[/name_f] [name_f]Rain[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sylvi[/name_f] [name_m]Otter[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sylvi[/name_f] [name_f]Swan[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sylvi[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sylvi[/name_f] [name_f]Wilderose[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sylvi[/name_f] [name_f]Briar[/name_f]
I was just hopping on to share the stats but I see @greyblue[name_f][/name_f] has already done that. [name_m]Just[/name_m] to put this into perspective, if you compare NZ and Aus [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] represents 0.14% of babies registered in NZ in 2024, while [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] represents 0.2% of babies registered in Australia in 2024. So Kaia’s popularity isn’t at a bothersome level in either country.
[name_f][/name_f]
We also don’t know what will gain popularity in the future – [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] could rank on the charts in next few years (I wouldn’t be surprised if it did). I would probably group [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] and Sylvie’s popularity together as familiar choices, whereas [name_f]Tuva[/name_f] is definitely unfamiliar or less known.
[name_f][/name_f]
The only thing that is similar between [name_m]Kasper[/name_m] and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] is the initial (technically the second letter is the same but the sounds are different). Personally, wanting to have a third child makes the repeated initial less of concern rather than more. It would be obvious that it wasn’t coordinated – you just chose your favourite name each time. In any case, children are not often viewed as part of a set as they grow up. Using your favourite name beats ‘ideal sibling cohesion’ any day.
[name_f][/name_f]
But it will be the perfect name in due time!

For boys names I have found the name [name_m]Leif[/name_m]! It would be pronounced LAYF… I might do a forum about it as my husband said he really liked that and [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] last night! Still with [name_m]Marlo[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
I’m definitely feeling more confident with the names for both genders from this group it’s amazing
