Which name do you prefer, and why?
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] because it sounds elegant and graceful.
Tough call! I think both names are lovely and interesting in their own ways. [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] is edgy, but ultimately I would vote [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f].
To some people it’s dated, but I’ve never met anyone named [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] so my impression is purely from the name itself. I agree with @bellaczh that it’s elegant and graceful. It makes me think of silver (even though that’s not where it comes from) so it has a pleasant image for me, along with a pleasant sound and nice meaning (“from the forest”). [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is gorgeous.
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] by far! I find it gorgeous, so beautiful and artistic. [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is nice but not nearly as pretty as [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] for me.
Definitely [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. I love saying [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], and I really like the vintage feel, strength, sophistication, down to earth, but still playful quality she has, and the meaning. [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] is a great name, but I have a friend called [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], so I can’t imagine using it myself.
Definitely [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. A gorgeous choice. I don’t get [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]. It doesn’t sound pretty to me.
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] sounds really dated to me, not in a good way. Unlike [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] which is a cool, modern, [name_m]French[/name_m] version.
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] on the other hand is gorgeous. It’s edgy, interesting, has strong sounds, sounds sassy, and is not over-used.
Idk…I like the soft, elegant feel of [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], but I am really loving the unexpected beauty of [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]. I say [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], which is a long-standing gp of mine.
I love [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]!
I’m just not a huge fan of the name [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. I know far too many older women with that name, so it just feels dated to me.
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], definitely. I love [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], and I do also really like the [name_f]Silvia[/name_f] spelling. [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is beautiful, stylish and a wonderful alternative to the super popular [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. The [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] Plath association makes me love it even more. I don’t like [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] much. It’s just okay, and the only association I have for the name is a murder victim in EastEnders (going back a bit now - and yes, more of an issue in the UK).
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] over [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] for me. I don’t like [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] much & actually prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] is exotic & romantic.
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f], hands down. I love how rare and edgy it is. It’s been on my list for years.
I’m just not a fan of [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. The sound isn’t pretty to my ears.
I really like [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
It feels fresher
I would 100% go for [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]! It feels warm and friendly to me, but also cool and elegant and intriguing. It’s beautiful and quite unusual. [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is pretty but just feels a little less fiery and special than [name_f]Saskia[/name_f].
I love both! So hard to decide! Maybe…[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]? Yep [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] gets my vote…it just sounds nicer. [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] sounds like slivery sloppy fish to me!
My vote goes to [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
I prefer [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f].
I’m not a big fan of [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. I know a ton of older women name [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], I just can’t picture it on a little girl. I do really like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], I think is way more friendlier and chic. I would go with [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], love that name. It is so edgy and sophisticated at the same time. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.
I prefer [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]. I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], but I like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].
I obviously adore [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] (see siggy).
Have you considered [name_f]Sylvana[/name_f] as an alternative to [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]?
