I’ve been falling more and more in love with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] lately, and I think it’s moved to the top of my favorites list, overthrowing my long-time fascination with [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]. Funny enough they are similar, [name_m]French[/name_m] names with the -ie ending, but that’s just a side note! Here are my questions:
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] or [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]?
What name of the following would you pick for a sister to [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]?
• [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
• [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lola[/name_f]/[name_u]Win/name_u
• [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
• [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]
• [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f]
• [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] nn [name_f]Miri[/name_f]/[name_f]Mira[/name_f]
I much prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] - gorgeous name!
With [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] I like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. Although I love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] they feel too ‘big’ or heavy next to [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]! But I absolutely adore [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], her charm, energy, fun feel, with some sophistication too. I imagine her to be witty, mischievous, and playful. [name_u]Love[/name_u] her.
I immediately thought [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], but I really like [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] too.
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] with [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] ([name_f]Lola[/name_f]) is simply precious. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] is pretty too.
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] also sounds nice with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. Not sure which I prefer between [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]. I might be inclined to say [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], since I hear [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] vastly more frequently
I love all of these options. So hard to choose, but I would not replace [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. You’ve loved [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] for so long! I think they are wonderful together anyway, matchy endings and all, so my first pick is [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f].
I imagined having a [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] for a long time, and I love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], so this one gets a vote from me for sure.
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Mira[/name_f] ([name_f]Miranda[/name_f]) was also on my list, so I love [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Mira[/name_f]’ as well.
And final pick, [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].
I managed to narrow it to 4 options! (Tho I love [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] too)
I definitely prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], and I think I would pick [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] as the sibling name, but [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] would work well too.
I definitely prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] is lovely, but it doesn’t hold a candle to [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].
I think I would go with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] “[name_f]Cora[/name_f]”. I think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] would make a perfect pair.
I personally prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] over [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], but both are lovely! As for a sibling, my favorite from yours is [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]!! So cute. From your list of sibling names I think that [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] and Elowyn, go great with it. Here are some other ideas:
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - I think this one is so cute. Same french/vintage sound as [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] - I saw that you had [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cora[/name_f] on your list. What about just [name_f]Cora[/name_f]?
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]/[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] - I love this one. When you said [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] I immediately though [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] - Elowyn made me think of [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. I think that [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] would go great together.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - Now I know that this name is popular, but it’s such a classic. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] go together like PB&J [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] - This might be a bit to close to [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] but has the same feel and is super cute.
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] - This name is such a cute vintage gem. There are tons of cute nn ([name_f]Immy[/name_f], [name_u]Mo[/name_u], [name_f]Gen[/name_f], [name_f]Genny[/name_f], [name_f]Genna[/name_f]). this one would go great with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] - Another rising name. This name is so sweet just like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].
Personally I wouldn’t use [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] or [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with either name. I think I prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], but it’s a hard decision. I’d pick [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] or [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] as a sibling.
I know, I almost feel like I’m cheating on [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] thinking about replacing it with something else! Which is crazy but yeah, I have had that as my top for a long time. So it has definite staying power, which is a reason to keep it around. I have liked [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] for a while, but that’s only just kind of erupted into a strong love of the name. I’m happy to hear you think they wouldn’t be too matchy as sisters. That might be a thought - [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] & [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. [name_m]French[/name_m] first names / traditional yet uncommon middles. They’d have a theme going but not a super obvious one…
Thanks for going through the other options too. I have loved [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] for a while but could never find just the right middle name for it to make it click. Recently I put it with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] though and I liked the image it put in my head a lot. Plus [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is a solid nickname.
I’ll have to think about it all some more. My main concern I could think of now would be if I ended up having three daughters - would I have to find another [name_m]French[/name_m] -ie first name or could I branch out to something else and not have it seem like I’m breaking up the style I’d set? [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] & ____? I love [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] in that vein but I’m not convinced it’d be usable in the U.S.
