Taag - what is its origin?

I saw Taag actually on a professional profile, and it struck me a being along the same lines as “[name]Dash[/name]”…but every site says origin unknown. Is this just a modern made-up name?! Thanks!

I had a look for it on the extremely comprehensive Behind The Name, and it didn’t have any matches, which normally indicates that it is either invented, or an uncommon name from another language (they don’t have as many [name]Asian[/name] or [name]African[/name] names, but to me Taag looks Dutch, or maybe Norse - I’m no expert, though).

When I Googled it, the first few items which came up all included it as an abbreviation of Angola Airlines.

Most search results are acronyms, but several are names. It does appear to be Dutch, and shows up more often as a last name.

The only Taag I have known is Japanese and is pronounced “tag”. [name]Hope[/name] that helps.

[name_f]May[/name_f] have been my name you came across… You’re close to right in my case. My family on my Dad’s side is Norwegian. Grandpa still spoke fluent Norwegian. Despite that, my Dad liked the Swedish name, ‘[name_m]Tage[/name_m]’ (day or dawn). As such, my name is a purposely misspelled version of that name. There are actually a few of us with my name out there, one lives not too far from me in MN.
