With less than 5 weeks to go until the arrival of our third baby boy, I need some opinions on our short list of names.
Big brothers are [name]Tait[/name] and [name]Leo[/name], and middle name is [name]Benjamin[/name].
Our short list is:
[name]Archer[/name] : my favourite but hubby is worried its becoming too popular here in Australia.
[name]Griffin[/name]: I really like this one too; not made up sounding but not too common & the options of nickname griff or [name]Finn[/name].
[name]Beau[/name] : we both like the short/masculine sound of beau but does it work with [name]Benjamin[/name] middle name?
[name]Jude[/name]: My hubby’s favourite and I really like it too, only concern is he’ll get “[name]Judy[/name]”. Does it sound masculine compared to tait & leo?
[name]Fred[/name]: I suggested this as a joke and now my hubby loves it too! Were considering [name]Alfred[/name] as a full name with nicknames either [name]Fred[/name] or [name]Alfie[/name] but I’d be worried he’d hate us when he’s 15 for giving him such an old name.
Honest opinions would be great and also some other suggestions if you can think of any.
As individual names I like everything on your list.
With [name]Tate[/name] and [name]Leo[/name], My favourite is [name]Jude[/name] which sounds so handsome with [name]Benjamin[/name]. [name]Jude[/name] is all boy to me and the two that I know are never referred to as [name]Judy[/name].

With [name]Tate[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] my two picks are [name]Fred[/name] and [name]Jude[/name]. I think [name]Fred[/name] (either [name]Frederick[/name] or [name]Alfred[/name]) are classic enough that a child wouldn’t question it, as opposed to something made up!
I’m in Australia too and don’t think [name]Archer[/name] is too popular. I’ve two little boys like you but have never meet a toddler or baby [name]Archer[/name]!
[name]Archer[/name]-Although its NMS, I like it with [name]Tait[/name] and [name]Leo[/name]. Modern and a little quirky. As for popularity overall in 2011 it was #91 which isn’t so bad, but it depends which state you are in. It doesn’t show up in the top 1200 names for NSW (which is weird), it was only used 7 times in the ACT for 2010 and 11, it was used 145 times in [name]Victoria[/name], 12 times in Tasmania for 2011 and I’m not sure about the other states and territories.
[name]Griffin[/name]-lovely name and rather cute with [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Tait[/name] though it doesn’t sit so well with [name]Benjamin[/name]. Probably because they both end with the ‘in’ sound.
[name]Beau[/name]-again NMS but it is still a good name. [name]Beau[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]? It sounds nice together but visually the repeated ‘Be’ is a bit of an issue but not a big one.
[name]Jude[/name]-I love this with [name]Tait[/name] and [name]Leo[/name]! He ‘might’ get referred to as [name]Judy[/name] but I don’t think it will be commonplace. As for masculinity I think he will do okay, he’s not macho but neither is [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Tait[/name].
[name]Fred[/name]-I love [name]Fred[/name], though style-wise he doesn’t quite sit well with [name]Tait[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] (only because they sound hip and modern) but does it really matter? [name]Sib[/name] sets do not have to be perfect, plus [name]Fred[/name] doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb. [name]Alfie[/name] on the other hand does sound fab with [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Tait[/name]. So it really depends which name you prefer.
[name]Archer[/name] and [name]Jude[/name] are both great names that work with your other boys [name]IMO[/name]. Also they sound best with [name]Benjamin[/name] off of the names you listed.
Thanks for your opinions! I’m Leaning more towards [name]Archer[/name] or [name]Jude[/name] but we want to wait until we meet the little man to see who he looks like!
You can’t really go wrong with any of the names on your list, they are all good names. [name]Jude[/name] isn’t my cup of tea though. [name]Archer[/name] and [name]Griffin[/name] are my favorites on your list. [name]Beau[/name] is alright.
With [name]Tait[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] I really love [name]Jude[/name] (or 2nd choice [name]Beau[/name]).
I like that they are equally short but have a distinctly different sound and vibe.
