Opinions please…
[name_m]Just[/name_m] in case our bub doesn’t suit our first choice name “[name_f]Belle[/name_f],” any feedback on “[name_u]Taite[/name_u]?” It means joyful/cheerful and we are after short girl names that suit our long surname.
I would spell it [name_u]Tate[/name_u] & I think it’s a very cute name that will age in a sophisticated way. I like it!! I actually much prefer [name_u]Tate[/name_u] to [name_f]Belle[/name_f], because [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is so trendy & common right now. I’m not sure where you live, but the third most popular name in the US last year was [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] & many of those are going by the nickname [name_f]Belle[/name_f] or [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. But both are sweet names. Best wishes!!
I love the visual look of “[name_u]Taite[/name_u]” but I think “[name_u]Tate[/name_u]” would be a better spelling generally. [name_u]Taite[/name_u] might get mispronounced or misrecorded etc.
I think [name_u]Tate[/name_u] is a really nice name though; it’s not too common, sounds strong and confident yet cute and elegant.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I like the sound of [name_u]Tate[/name_u] on a girl. It’s cheery and a little preppy; cute but not cutesy. If you do decide on it, please use the [name_u]Tate[/name_u] spelling though. Adding extra i’s and y’s just makes it look jumbled to me.
[name_f]My[/name_f] niece is named [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] nn [name_u]Tate[/name_u] (or Tator Tot). I would stick with the spelling [name_u]Tate[/name_u].
[name_u]Tate[/name_u] (this spelling) is adorable on a girl! I love it as a middle name, especially with a classic name that seems tired. Adds a little punch and spunk.
I don’t like the idea of [name_u]Tate[/name_u] or [name_u]Taite[/name_u] on a girl. It sounds very curt and blunt, not very feminine at all. She’d always be confused for a boy.
I dislike [name_u]Tate[/name_u] and would never, [name_u]EVER[/name_u] use [name_u]Tayte[/name_u] or [name_u]Taite[/name_u]. They look awkward ([name_u]Tayte[/name_u] especially), and would always be misspelled. [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is adorable.
I prefer [name_u]Tate[/name_u] for a boy. For a girl, I would worry that it may be misheard as [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. If you like the meaning and shortness of the name, you may like [name_f]Blythe[/name_f].
I like [name_u]Tate[/name_u] on either gender, I think it’s cute and has a very unisex, Southern surname-as-first feel. I would spell it the original way. Definitely prefer to [name_f]Belle[/name_f]. It feels more complete and substantial, even though both are four-letter one-syllable names.
