Talk me out of Avery

OUT, not in. I can’t use it, even though I want to. [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t tell me it’s a good name because it’s UNUSABLE FOR ME.

Sorry, but I know a million people are going to do that.

It’s a trendy name and could sound dated in the future.

Agree with what @choupette said above.^

Reminds me of ovary, aviary, “a very”, and I do think it’s simultaneously trendy and dated already

To me its a mouthful. To many different sounds going on.

Yes, it will be dated soon especially on girls.

I can think of five people I’ve met named [name_u]Avery[/name_u], and I know I’ve met more!

It reminds me of the word “slavery.”

Avery has become sooo popular and has really lost its appeal. It blends in with the other A names like Addison (or any Addie name), Ava, Aubrey, Abby, Ashton, etc. It just doesn’t stand out at all. Imo it’s kinda become the “Ashley” of the 2010s. I know so many Averys, girls AND boys.

Not only that, but spellings are all over the place. I’ve seen Averi, Averie, Averey, Averee, Avary, Avarey, Avarie, Avaree, Aeverie, and even Avereigh. I think there are so just many wonderful alternatives that don’t feel as overused.

I really dislike this name on girls. It was so overused that it’s just become bland. I also have a hard time picturing it on a boy since I know SO MANY girl Averys.

I don’t like how it’s unisex. For me it’s more feminine, but I know people who have used it for little boys.

It’s interesting what comes to mind for different people. A random thought…I’ve always thought how mucous rhymes with [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]. :woman_shrugging:

It could really sound dated in a short while, and many kids both this age and slightly older have it, so your child might be one of many Averys in a class.

It’s sooo trendy. Basically every little girl I come across who isn’t called [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is called [name_u]Avery[/name_u]. But it’s just the past ten years, & before that it was just a handsome boy name used for [name_f]Fern[/name_f]’s little brother in [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]’s [name_m]Web[/name_m]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] doesn’t sound nice on a girl to me. :woman_shrugging:

Going to be brutally honest, it’s ugly and gross.
