Talk to me about Blythe

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] has been my top name for a couple years now, but lately I’m considering [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] as a first. I love the meaning (Joyous, kind, cheerful, pleasant), and I love that it’s less common but still a well-known name.

I’m not sure I can picture the name [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] on a real child, though. Is it something you can picture? What sibling names would you recommend for [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]?

My daughter’s name is [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. Personally I love it! In my opinion its feminine but a bit edgy, and perfect for both a baby/child and an adult. It’s an unusual name that can take a bit of explanation, but that’s one of the reasons I like it.

I always think of [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], a nice literary association.

You know, [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is a nameberry favorite I’ve never quite wrapped my head around. I’m sure if I met a real person with the name, I might change my mind, but it just feels kinda… bleak… to me. My association with the name is a town in the middle of no where between Palm Springs and [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and it’s just one of those places you stop to fill up your gas and pee and get outta there as fast as you can, so that may add to my negative impression of the name.
