[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]- is it terribly overused?!?
Our sons name isn’t super popular but -
I think it’s outside the top 100.
I know [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is in the top 10 but how common is it where you live? (I’m east coast USA)
Thanks!

I only know one person who named their child [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], and he lives in a different state than me.
I hear [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] all day every day. I’m in the southeast US.
Love Olivia. It’s popular for a reason.
I hear it a lot in [name_m]New[/name_m] Zealand
I’ve actually never met any Olivias! I live in [name_u]Texas[/name_u]. When I hear it, though, I think of it as being a pretty, but very sort of “average” name. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it (and there’s nothing wrong with popularity per se, either) but it doesn’t have anything particularly striking or interesting about it.
That being said, that’s just me! I still think it’s pretty and sweet; and if you and your husband love it, I think y’all should just go with it!
I just moved to Idaho from [name_u]California[/name_u] and both areas have some [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]’s of all ages, but not an over saturation. I hear/see [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] way more. I’ve even met more [name_u]Reese[/name_u]’s and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]’s than [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]’s. I don’t feel like it’s one in the top ten that’s everywhere.
I know several Olivias, including one grown-up [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and one little [name_f]Alyvia[/name_f]. Maybe 5-10 altogether and not just in my area (Northern [name_u]California[/name_u]), but in other states as well.
I certainly consider it a common name. (Isn’t it still in the top 3 in the US?) I wouldn’t necessarily call it an oversaturation, though. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is beautiful and timeless. Oversaturation is a feeling I get when a name sparks many copies of itself, like [name_f]Kaylie[/name_f]-[name_f]Kayla[/name_f]-[name_f]Kylie[/name_f] for girls, or the whole -ayden series for boys.
I’ve known 3 Olivias and 1 [name_f]Alyvia[/name_f] (I live in Australia).
I love the name [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], we named our daughter it. Its simple, classic, understated and elegant.
I actually feel that unusual names are what id call “common”…lower class names. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is currently No.13 in the top 100 where i’m from.
I have to admit, I’ve met a lot of Olivias - not just little ones, but Olivias my age too. It’s lost a lot of its spark for me because of that, but it is a pretty name and I like the nn option of [name_u]Ollie[/name_u]
There are loads of Olivias where I am ([name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] City), but they’re generally a bit older…[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] was big here in the 2000s.
One reason I’m aware of how many school-age Olivias there are is that little girl Olivias often come up to us as ask if our older daughter’s name is [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] – it’s [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but we call her [name_f]Libby[/name_f] and the girls hear it as [name_f]Livvy[/name_f], a common nickname for [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].
I’ve not met an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] in my children’s age range (under 3 years old).
I know a few people named [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], some my age (20ish), a couple small kids. I don’t hear it as much as most people, I live in the Northeast of the US. I also like the name because I love [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_m]Benson[/name_m] from SVU lol.
It’s very common where I live too. Northern Europe
Very very common and I’m in [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_u]Jersey[/name_u]
I live in [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m], and it’s pretty common here. I’ve met a lot over the years, of all different ages.
Its still a pretty name, though! I especially like the nickname [name_f]Via[/name_f] for it.
Also, I see that it’s not as popular other places, so it just depends on where you live!
(I actually prefer the name [name_f]Olive[/name_f]! I think it’s beautiful, sweet, and spunky. and it’s less common than [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], though shed probably still get lumped in with them sometimes)
I love [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]! Its a very very popular name here in the Midwest. I know an adult [name_f]Alyvia[/name_f] and a little [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. 3 of my kids had an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] in each of their classes last year. Plus I have 3 friends that all named their kids [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the name and completely understand why its so popular.
I love [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and we named our daughter [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] in 2016 (see my user name haha), when it was - and still is - #2 in the country and in my state. We’re in the east coast, outside a major city. I had similar concerns of popularity. In her first year of life, I knew of 1 other [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] - never met any others. She is in a large daycare and there are no other Olivias in her school. We met the first [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] about 3 months ago, and she was 8. I met a second [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] (coincidentally born on the same day as mine) about a month ago. In the last 2 years, though, I have met about 7 Pipers, 4 Eloises, 2 Islas, 2 Rosalies, 3 Nolas, Amelias, and Scarletts. With the exception of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], none of those names are close to the top 10.
So basically - will you meet other Olivias? Absolutely. However, if you love the name enough, I strongly encourage you to go for it. Popularity is not nearly as important as loving the name you choose. It took me months to commit to the name, for this exact reason. I knew it was the right name, but I haaaated it was so super popular. But as it turns out…popularity is relative.
i know a few of them and one [name_f]Alivia[/name_f], but pronounced like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. When looking at [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], I saw where [name_f]Olive[/name_f] was a fresh new twist on the name and thought it was also darling, and then of course for my sake, wanted to make it 3 syllables haha and make it [name_f]Olivianne[/name_f]
I live in Kentucky. I only know of 3 I think. The youngest is 8. So, I haven’t heard any babies named [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]! I think it’s a pretty name.
